It was high time for someone to write a book based on the principles of Yogic cooking. Being a Yoga Teacher myself and following the Yogic principles on eating sometimes students wonder how you can create great tasting dishes without onions, garlic, leeks, mushrooms, vinegar etc, now I can tell them just get this book. The recipies are visually well presented and easy to follow, there is something for everyone. I can heartily recommend this book to anyone interested in the practice of Yoga and a healthy vegetarian diet.

I could write a very long and thorough critique of this book, but i won't. i just want to make a few points. First & foremost is that this is the only book of its kind (that i'm aware of); that is, it's a vegetarian indian cookbook based directly on ayurvedic science, with a complete introduction to ayurvedic theory & application... and it's vegan-friendly... (there's a small section of the recipes devoted to paneer cottage cheese and yogurt, and some of the other main recipes call for yogurt or cream, but these are few comparatively, and of course soy could be substituted).... As an introductory guide to ayurveda, it is pretty good (the organization isn't the best, compared to "Ayurveda" by Dr. Vasant Lad, which ... Read More:

Kristina introduces the idea of a macrobiotic diet in a fun, light hearted way, without losing the point of a healthier eating programme. She includes exercises such as visualisation to encourage you to think more about what you eat and why, without denying that sometimes we all find it difficult to do what is best for us! She is not in the least bit sanctimonious and even includes some recipes for those times when you absolutely have to eat something rich or chocolately or whatever!!!

I have dozens of cookbooks but this is the one cookbook I have found that has consistently excellent, tasty recipes. As a busy mother of three boys I don't have time for complicated recipes with long lists of ingredients which take hours to make and then somehow... just don't work. These recipes are a snap to put together, so flavorful and a hit every time. Most important, they're healthy and nutritious for both adults and growing children. My family and friends are amazed at my new confidence and skill in the kitchen. I owe it all to this book. I asked my six year old son Skylar, what he thought of Mom's new cooking and here is his unedited reply: "I love the food that my Mom makes now. She makes the best food of all time." ... Read More:

I bought this book in 1986, there were very few books around then that treated nutrition as a serious subject. I read this book, and others by adelle davies, miriam polunin, etc.I changed the way my family ate. Many of my friends took heed and also modified their family's diet. my son gary mccallion died six years ago from testicular cancer,i will never get over our loss, however i am comforted by the knowledge that bad dietary habits did not contribute to his illness. Read this book and take charge of your life.
