I love this book. I bought it a couple of months ago and have cooked many of the recipes, and the results have been delicious. I do a lot of cooking anyway, sometimes quite elaborate stuff, but I was amazed how tasty these dishes turn out considering how simple they are. I often make 2 or 3 different dishes from the book for one meal.
My one criticism would be that some of the quantities seem a little unusual - olive oil is measured in fractions of "cups", for example, and salt and lemon juice tend to be specified at equally excessive amounts - but it does say that the recipes are not carved in stone and to feel free to modify them to your own tastes. In spite of good intentions,I've never used this book because it requires measuring in the American cup system. I'm still loathe to use metric and rely on my trusty imperial scales, but this is a cup too far. Also the book assumes you understand the Weight Watchers points system. I've never been to WW (nor do I have any inclination to) so this book has left me wanting more than it was prepared to offer.

I tried vegetarianism a few years ago, and this book was one of my "readers". It's a fascinating, well-written and erudite book, and kept me with my nose in the pages for an entire camping holiday in France! It didn't work for me, in that I soon started eating meat again and felt much better as a result, but that doesn't detract (for me) from its virtues as a classic and highly-readable book. Vegetarians will no doubt love it, as it confirms everything they believe, but non-veggies can just enjoy a great book that expands the mental horizons and teaches a lot about the human animal. Very persuasive (just not quite persuasive enough for me) and highly-recommended.
