The first book I read that explains the health benefits of veganism without falling into the moralistic view.
Packed with all you need if you are to make an informed choice, supported by real data, and be able to explain to others why you eat what you eat.

I disagree with the review below on the child rearing parts of this book which I found very down to earth and sensible. As a mother of three I read this when pregnant with my first child and thought both the recipes (lots suggestions for adapting for toddlers) and other child rearing info useful. Rose Elliot suggests keeping toys in bottom drawers and accessible places and things you don't want broken out of reach - much bettr than not adapting your house and trying to say "no" to a difficult two year old I would have thought.

My roommate picked this book up for me as a birthday present. Although we both have a rather large collection of cookbooks, we were lured to just about every recipe in the book. Two weeks later almost every meal we had had came from this.
The 'Meals in Minutes' claim really is true, none of the recipes we made took us much longer than 30 minutes. Every single one of them turned out the way it was supposed to be, although it seemed to me that they could be a bit bland every now and then - nothing a little tweaking cannot fix.
The fettucine with rocket pesto is absolutely mouth-watering, but becomes even better if you used sundried tomatoes and feta instead of just regular tomatoes.
Quite honestly the best vegetarian cookbook you could ever buy. Full of recipes from all over the world, it doesn't contain any of the boring same recipes you'll find everywhere else. Instead, it has all the recipes of the dishes I'd order from my local takeaway - from loads of different cultures. This will be passed to my kids and hopefullly to theirs.

A very clearly presented and illustrated book explaining the basic principles of Ayurveda. The recipies are divided into three sections, so that having completed the 'self test' to discover your body type, you can then choose from over 70 delicious recipies. These include non vegetarian recipies, all of which are very simple to prepare from ingredients which are readily available. An excellent introduction to Ayurveda - 'the science of life'.

I learned about this book from my local Raw Food Group that has potlucks once a month. My friend and I have served a few dishes from this book at that event and other events and everyone raves about the "eggless egg salad" (I LOVE IT myself). Also, the "raw tacos", "Thai Salad" (another TO DIE FOR recipe) and the "pierogies" are amazing! I can't tell you how many times I've made these recipes.
I think that each recipe in the book has a picture of how it looks prepared. I love that in a cook book! I've definietly gotten my money's worth out of it!
