my 3 month old granddaughter was captivated by this book from the second she saw it. I was doubtful when I first saw the book 'in the flesh' that it would hold her attention for long. It is extremely short and very simplistic, but she was (and still is) mesmerized by it. She stares intently at the patterns and smiles back at the faces. The crunchy sounds she is rewarded with when trying to grab at the pictures or chew the pages are an added bonus. This looks like being a favourite for quite some time

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a great little book. It keeps my daughter occupied for hours on end. Just a quick flick through it is enough to convince any adult that a small child will like it. Simplistic, enjoyable and charming. And actually quite funny.

I love this book! I remember it from when I was a kid, (more than 30 years ago!) I have been searching for it for ages for my 3 year old son who loves books, and he loves it too. Not sure if it has changed over the years, but it's very much the same as I remember it to be.

I only bought this book when Amazon recommended it whilst I was looking for a different one, but it couldn't have been much better suited to my son's taste. He loves touchy feely book and tends to lose interest in books that don't have some sort of texture in them. He also loves singing songs and doing little actions and it turned out that this book had all his favourites like 'The Wheels on the Bus' and 'Row Your Boat'. He was soon swaying along and humming little tunes. It has become an instant favourite. What a find! If your child likes the 'That Not My...' books then they'll love this.

This book is wonderful with lift up flaps and a simple story which delighted my son as a toddler. Even now we like to look at the book and lift the flaps. I would recommend this book to any toddler, its wonderful.

Such a lovely board book and in my opinion it's perfect for babies and toddlers of any age really.
It's especially good for reading before a daytime nap (or any winding down time) as the beautiful rhymes and gentle illustrations can be quite soothing. My 2 year old daughter loves it and I highly recommend it. Buy it and you'll soon see...it will come out from the bookshelf time and time again. >>More Details |

My son is only 5 months, but he loves looking at this book even if he doesn't understand the "story" yet - there are lots of bright colours and things to see in the pictures. I can see him enjoying it more and more as he gets older as we discuss the content of the pictures (people, animals, clowns, magicians...) My only problem is to stop my son from eating the book! The CD is a great bonus.

With beautiful pictures and lyrical text this is a book you can start reading to your little one from a very early age. Even though my little boy doesn't understand he loves the pictures of big and little nutbrown hare and he knows its about love because of the tone in my voice and the big hugs!
Also it's great for dads: normally depictions of love in children's books seem to be a Mum and a baby; Big Nutbrown Hare is the father! Because it's a bit more "wordy" than most baby books I think it's good for youngsters to learn that the weird squiggly black things (letters!) have something to do with the story too. >>More Details |
