I love this book! I remember it from when I was a kid, (more than 30 years ago!) I have been searching for it for ages for my 3 year old son who loves books, and he loves it too. Not sure if it has changed over the years, but it's very much the same as I remember it to be.

I bought this on a whim when purchasing another item for my daughter's birthday and I must admit that it is a pretty wee book which I know she will enjoy, however it is expensive for what it is. My advice is that you can get similar for cheaper from a supermarket if you can get to one or go to a library.
We live in Spain but talk English at home although it's not my mother language.Because of this book my daughter is learning to play with the language. My daughter (3,5) loves this book!Well we all do.We've got some other rhyming books but this is her favorite. The illustrations are so pretty and the choice of rhymes excellent.Within 1 month she new them by heart.Really recommended!!

I am having trouble understanding the other reviews on this book and CD, as I found this book unbelievably contrived, with too much talking. There is a french lady who introduces each song, which totally spoils the flow, especially as she has a really fake syrupy way of speaking which is very grating.
I was so annoyed with the CD, I actually threw it away so my children (and others) would never be subjected to listening to it. I never do things like that normally, but I felt very passionately about this! If kids are bored and turned off to French early on, it may be hard work geting them interested again later on, by which time the damage has already been done.
the book gets off to a good start with the title "action" but then moves on to more spurious ones such as "rattle and shake" (some rattles - need to have them to hand), "push the blocks" (great if you've set up the blocks ready) and "hold on tight" (with a picture of a baby holding an adult's hand - boring!). Ok these are actions that babies can do, but only when they want to, they'd be too little to do any following the song.
My 18mth old & I gave up after 2 actions. I'd been hoping for a run through of the proper version with actions such as "jump up and down", "turn around" or "stamp yor feet" but none of these were included.
Yes the pictures are lovely and being a board book means it will survive abuse, but it's ... Read More:

Lovely bright coloured book with favorite nursery rhymes for all ages! The pages are made of quailty material, and the illustrations, although simple, and bright and eye catching. My son is now familiar with many nursery rhymes and loves this book, he has his own favorites! A nice addition I thought with his book was that there are some 2nd verses to rhymes I didn't know had 2nd verses, such as 'Old Mother Hubbard'. I have no hesitation in recommending this book for ages 18 months plus or so!

We were given this book for our 11 month old daughter and she loved it as soon as she saw it. She constantly reaches for it and being musical is one of the few books she will actually happily look at by herself and do the various hand actions which accompany many of the rhymes such as "Incey Wincey Spider". Can be very entertaining to just watch her looking at it. However it is a great book for both of you to use together.
It contains a page for each popular children's nursery rhyme with an easy to recognise symbol at the top to indicate which part to press on the plastic musical edge to hear the matching music. What is good about this is that there is no annoying singing to listen to over and over again just the music. Excellent for ... Read More:
