This book has really helped me in my study of french and makes revision much easier. Grammar points are explained simply, and this is what lets you make up your own sentences and get the top marks. the revision questions at the end of each section reinforce what you have learned and let you know what you need to go back over. all this at a reasonable price, definately worth the money.

I read Of Mice and Men as part of a practice GCSE exercise with my class and found myself pleasantly surprised at the quality of writing. Steinbeck clearly deserved his Nobel Prize in literature and this classic piece of American literature is evidence. The author uses simple but appropriate language to portray the era of the Great Depression (1930s). The book is rather slow but enticing as the slow build up gives way for a truly original climax. Demonstrating a mastery of language, description and dialogue, 'Of Mice and Men' is truly emotional and deals with a lot of the problems faced in the 1930s and our outlook on society in general.

I found this book thanks to Amazon and once i opened that first page i was hooked, i couldnt stop reading this book til the end it is a profound book (to me) it blew me away the whole idea of two ghosts 'light' falling in love and finding bodies was perfect but the way their relationship was the love they had the bond they had because they were the only two alike was brilliant. The whole god idea too, them not being let into heaven because they had done something bad was good too and getting to the end and finding out what they had done was chair gripping. Also at the end i was in tears how they had lost each other only to find themselves in heaven together again and even though it doesnt actually say Jenny and Billy get together im thinking they ... The previous Pratchett book staring Tiffany Aching, `The Wee Free Men', was an absorbing and entertaining read but this second book in the series is simply another degree of excellence above its predecessor. In this book Tiffany is now eleven and is leaving home for the first time in order to learn what it means to be a witch. Travelling to the mountains she stays with the research witch Miss Level but a creature from the dawn of time is stalking her and will make life difficult once it catches her.
It has been a long time since I read an entire book in a single day but this one was just so absorbing and entertaining that I just could not put it down. The book is as intelligently written, bringing the characters and scenery to life ... Read More:

This book is quite light-hearted, and as another review says, probably contains everything you need to pass- get a C grade. It doesn't, however, contain the information i would personally say you need for the A*-B Therefore is better for foundation. I have now bought the York Notes revision book, which is much better for higher grades!!!

My 12 year old son picked this up and read in from front to back in preference to playing computer games - says it all, really! He adored it, but was slightly upset that not all elements were represented. I suggested it would have made it too large and not in the excellent 'pocket book' category, but he is correct that it is not only the wierd and wonderful elements that are missing but some basic ones too. Any chance of a 'Periodic Table Book 2' to fill in some gaps?
The subsequent 'Physics: Why Matter Matters' is even better and we can't wait for the Biology one in Oct 2008. Hope the series keeps going!
