Not our best buy really. Pictures are ok but very busy and not easy for small children. The holes don't work with this story. There are better buys out there so perhaps take another look before committing to this one.

I bought this on the strength of its nomination for the Roald Dahl prize. I thought it would be funny and up to date modern childrens fiction. It isn't. I was bored. So were my kids. Sorry, just never 'got' Paddington. Maybe my dislike of Marmite has tarnished my views?

This has been one of our little boy's favourite few books for about a year now. He's just over 2 and 1/2 now and there is no sign of him tiring of it yet. Just wonderful.

I'm currently working leisurely through this book with my 7 year old daughter. My daugter is finding it very approachable and so am I as someone who is a bit rusty on the game. I have found it very inspirational. My daughter had no problem in understanding and interpreting the section on algebraic notation. Every little girl should have this book - it is fabulous, my girls spend hours playing with it. We have bought it as a present for most of their friends and they love it too.

I feel compelled to comment about this excellent recipe book aimed specifically at babies, toddlers and children. It is the best book of its kind out there and has been an absolute lifesaver. My 1 year old doesn't like food much... in fact he only started eating at 9 months. I tried all sorts of food, bought and otherwise. Quite simply, the most success I have had is with recipes from this book. I currently have one in the oven and one on the stove as I'm typing. I really love the format too. Much more useful than the Annabel Karmel books and a must have for all mums (and dads!).

I like the Hungry Caterpiller but this is even better. I've read it to my 6 month yr old daughter, mainly due to the variety of animal characters. Def one to buy!
