I'm a big fan of the CGP study guide series, and the KS 2 English Study Book is no exception. Our 10 year-old has worked her way through it with enthusiasm. The colourful, well-designed pages and humour make the book a surprisingly enjoyable read.
Although this book is aimed at English schoolchildren, I should have thought its comprehensive and comprehensible sections on grammar and usage (eg "When to start a new paragraph"; "Writing a formal letter") would be useful background reading for any student of the English language.

An excellent book full of hilariously good flip o rama, comics and the same line at the end it says in the book "you'll get nowhere in life if you keep on writing silly books like that"said his teacher. And he ended up writing one of the best books I ever read. My favourite bit was when the granny and grandpa turned into superheros. Every line I read was good -brilliant even. You might need to read Captain Underpants and the Bionic Booger Boy Part 1 and then read Captain Underpants and the Bionic Booger Boy Part 2 and then read this book. I didnt read them in the right order so I didn't really understand what was happening at all but any one else who reads this book might prefer to read them in order. I recommend this for 5 and over easy to read. ... Read More:

It's a very humorous and action-packed book with laughs all the way, but one incy-wincy detail: it should be a bit longer!
At the beginning it's got a book within a book and it's drawn out like a comic. I think it's absolutely fantastic because it's got lots of interactive stuff like flip-o-rama. The storyline's excellent because it follows the same characters, and the drawings are brilliant.
I would recommend this book to people of all ages who like hilarious books.
The only likable character in this book is Sally, Darrell's best friend, who is a really good head-girl. And Daphne's development is quite interesting as well - in the beginnning, she is vain and selfish, but then she rescues Mary-Lou - so she can cancel out her bad deeds... And I like Belinda, a new girl in the second form, who is a talent artist and a scatter-brain like Irene - of course, the two of them become friends!
So why I don't like this book?
I think there are too many "baddies" - one new girl is taking advantage of mary-Lou (Mary-Lou helps her with her French). Besides, she is a thief and a liar, who is even ready to see an innocent girl being expelled ... Read More:

This book was kind of exciting to read. You had to find out what Vicky was going to do next to her best friend however she could sound like a spoiled brat most of the time. The ending again as I've always said in Jacqueline Wilson's book was again very short and straight forward. It would have been better if more things happened even after everything was solved. Story is readable I guess but not the best I've read.
