I really enjoyed the 5th Harry Potter book and mainly for the creation of Professor Umbridge! J.K. Rowling has created such a good villain with this character, I really could not stand the woman by the end of the book and the reader could really identify with the characters frustration with this vile and unfair woman. This book really sees the main charcacters growing up and is darker than the previous ones, I thought it was brilliant.

I bought this collection of 6 stories after checking what Roald Dahl books my son already had, on the basis that there was no overlap. The product description says book #6 is "The Witches", when actually it was "The Twits" which my son already has.
Amazon, please correct the description - I am somewhat disappointed...

Based on customer's positive reviews, I bought Journey to the Riversea for a 12 year old girl. Making the unusual decision to read the book first, has turned out to be a compelling, riveting read. I thoroughly enjoyed and agonised, wondering what was going to happen next. I'm now an Eva Ibbotson fan. This superbly written adventure story, with its unexpected twists and turns, happily kept me awake for most a night. An avid reader since childhood, I loved this story and the characters, the exception being the ghastly Carter twins and their parents. I'm not only satisfied the 12 year old will be as thrilled as I am with the book, I now have The Dragonfly Pool. I see no reason why at my grandmother age, I should miss out on the best of children's ... Read More:

This book focuses on "sport" - first the Quidditch World Cup and then the Triwizard Tournament - so much I actually miss some of the Hogwarts everyday life. But as always it's an unpredictable plot introducing Mad-Eye Moody among other soon to be important characters and bringing Voldemort back in full force, which bodes "well" for the last three books
I've read all seven books in Danish at least twice each. Now I'm going through the lot in English - in the right order that is - and have just finished this one. Okay, I have to admit that I couldn't wait for the Deathly Hallows to be published in Danish, and it was the first of them I read in English first. Even though this one is worthy of five stars, it's not the best one in my opinion. Harry Potter ... Read More:

This is a fantastic book for fans and collectors of the Famous Five, whatever their age. It is a handsome book, carefully and artistically produced. It is a thick hard-backed volume, 253 pages long, in full colour, and seemingly assembled with much love and respect as well as affection towards both Enid Blyton and the Famous Five.
The book is not only packed with plenty of articles on how to survive various situations, such as shipwrecks, being lost, crossing rivers, cracking codes, climbing rocks, spotting a liar, etc, but also contains a full-length new Famous Five story about a long lost treasure. The story portion of the book is excellently illustrated in full colour, in a style very reminiscent of the original 'Fives' illustrator, Eileen Soper. ... Read More:

My 6 year old daughter was given the Malory Towers series. I didn't remember them from my own childhood and wasn't greatly looking forward to reading them - I thought they would be ridiculously old fashioned and badly written. I was wrong. Of course some of the language is a bit dated (things are "wizard" rather than "cool") but my daughter adores the stories and the characters and it doesn't matter that she'd never come across the concept of a boarding school or a governess before. Blyton had a talent for writing engrossing page-turners and creating appealing characters. I have enjoyed reading them to my daughter and she's now enjoying reading them to herself. I would thoroughly recommend this series either as a bedtime story for girls from around reception to year ... Read More:

This is my all time favourite book and Jacqueline Wilson is my best author. I have read many of her books and have enjoyed all of them. Candyfloss is very good and is all about a little girl called Floss who doesn't want to go to Australia with her mum and Steve. But she decides to go and live with her dad instead. What will happen to Floss and her dad when they get chucked out of the cafe?
To find out you will have to read this book!!!!!!!!!
