If you have read "His Dark Materials Trilogy" and enjoyed them you might be asking yourself the very question my title asks; where are they now?
Well... If you take a chance to read this book you will get some idea.
Here we look in on Lyra about two years after the end of the book "The Amber Spyglass".
Some people might describe this as a cheap money making ploy, but I think true fans (like myself) that were left at the end of the last book sobbing into their tissues, would enjoy this.
Yes, it might be a bit pricely, let us not forget that this short story is about the same length as a long chapter. But, we get the cool map and other paraphernalia that have fallen out between worlds into ours.
This is a very good book. I remember reading it when I was around 12. It may have what could be read as "gross out tactics" in it but they are very inventive ones. Kids may be impressed by burps and farts, but even an adult would be impressed by someone who could fart the national anthem...
Also, if you read some of his adult fiction (only for adults mind. Subject matter and language get very mature) you'll see that he can fart symphonies. Incredibly gross and incredibly imaginative all at once.
The fact that this book involves two of the biggest antiheroes who get their comeuppance at the end, and I remember it 18 years after I read it at least means it at least deserves four stars, but because the other reviewer is so ... Read More:

I introduced my seven year old Grandson to Enid Blyton and he can't get enough of her books. He is a Californian who is now living in France so has no knowledge of England at any time. He doesn't care he loves the stories. They are not old fashioned to him they are just good tales. With CD's he can listen at any time instead of having to wait for bedtime for us to read to him.

There is no doubt that Stephen Fry is entirely the MOST suitable person for the job of reading ANY story for an audio book. His voice is perfectly suited to story telling and he is able to define and animate the characters in his own colourful way. It's a good audio book and this is very much attributed to the talented Mr Fry.
I am disappointed however, that the indexing for the CDs are in such a pickle! Whilst I understand that copying CDs and music is frowned upon, is it not feasible that a person can listen to this audio book on their MP3 player? Attempting to transfer this into a more mobile format is something of a mission. The CDs chapters and files are not labelled properly, so if you want to put this into MP3 format you ... Read More:

This entire series is special but now that it's complete I can safely say this is my favourite. I'll re-read all the books but this one the most.
Review:
After Sirius' death in book five, Dumbledore invites Harry to help him investigate and obtain information regarding Voldermort's past (or to be more precise- Tom Riddle's past). With Voldermort's Deatheaters returning to him en masse, Voldermort is now ready to return to his reign of terror so Dumbledore and Harry must look into his past to see if there is any way of defeating him. These flashback sequences via the pensieve are terrific and really flesh out the character ... Read More:

My daughter and I love these fairies. It is a wonderful little book that opens up oh so many pictures in our heads of things we can do with the bits and pieces. Regretted terribly that I had not ordered several to give away, and am going to buy a bunch to have a fairy making party this summer.

It is great to see that this timelss classic is still very popular. Like most of the sailing community Swallows and Amazons created in me a passion for sailing that has stayed with me through adult life. The adventures of John, Susan, Titty and Roger are what many children dream of. The whole series really introduced me to reading as i just wanted to hear more of their adventures. So I would recommend any adult buying these books for their childern.

This book appealed to year 5. They loved it infact. They voted it 5/5 in the book club. The boys loved it as much as the girls, even though the main character is a girl.
