Girls in Tears is the fourth (and hopefully not final) installment of Jacqueline Wilson's 'Girls' series and again focuses its attention on the lives, loves and laughs of best-pal trio, Ellie, Magda and Nadine.
In this latest installment, things are not going very swimmingly for our favourite lasses. Ellie's boyfriend Russell is being a pain in the behind, Nadine is acting like a careless air-head, Magda is upset over the death of her hamster, and Ellie's dad and step mum are at logger heads. While the book of course includes all the usual elements from previous 'Girls' installments (worries about looks, popularity, being cool, keeping your friends etc) all the major themes seem to come to a head in this latest one and it is to dramatic ... Everyone who has read the Harry Potter series knows how fun, interesting and addictive it is to read, so the seventh book is essential for those who have dabbled in the others. Possibly the most engaging book of them all, this last edition takes a different style into what would be Harry's final year at Hogwarts. The sixth book was said to be dark but it is in the seventh that great change happens. The plot deepends enormously as do the characters, who have grown up so much since their first days. J.K. Rowling is a gift to children and adults alike. Conclusion: essential reading if you have read the others, although really that goes without saying!

This is a book about the Harry Potter fandom and phenomenon that is both insightful and heartfelt written as it is by a true insider. It is both a fan's and journalist's dream, crammed with details and facts covering the whole Potter phenomenon from its very beginnings to its ever continuing expansion. It also, uniquely, has the inside track on Jo Rowling's experience as well, with both interviews and a foreword by the extraordinary creator herself. Its pacy, well written, and keenly observed, covering all the bases from fanfic to wizard rock. Highly recommended.

My kids (8 and 5 year old) enjoy playing with Bionicles and have seen a couple of the films on DVD. It was difficult to follow how all the various characters were connected, that is until we got the encyclopedia. Now the whole Bionicle world makes a lot more sense and the kids enjoy playing with Bionicles even more, and creating their own stories around the "Mask of Life".

Having a great time with my son going through this book. Excellent, easy to follow format with a really fun approach this book has succeeded in dragging my son (and me ;-]) away from the xbox. Totally recommended.

This entire series is special but now that it's complete I can safely say this is my favourite. I'll re-read all the books but this one the most.
Review:
After Sirius' death in book five, Dumbledore invites Harry to help him investigate and obtain information regarding Voldermort's past (or to be more precise- Tom Riddle's past). With Voldermort's Deatheaters returning to him en masse, Voldermort is now ready to return to his reign of terror so Dumbledore and Harry must look into his past to see if there is any way of defeating him. These flashback sequences via the pensieve are terrific and really flesh out the character of ... Read More:

I ordered this book for my son who is 5 and in-between picture books and older books that have 'no colour on them so they must be boring' books.
They really appealed to his sense of humour and had us roaring with laughter. Now he likes to read during the day as well as at bedtime and my husband and i fight over who is going to read to him. Hilarously funny and i reccommend them to any adult or child who enjoys a really good laugh.
