I own the hardback version of this book which was bought as a present for my eldest son when he was four. He is now almost fourteen and the book is loved by his little almost four year old sister as it was by his brother. The book is simple, rhythmic, eye catching and beautifully illustrated. It contains the best pop ups I have ever seen and the colours are fabulous. You really won't mind reading it AGAIN.

I got this for my first child and he was totally addicted to it up until a good toddler age and so now is my second at 15 months.
Very bold Lucy Cousins illustrations and only some verses of well known nursery rhymes so very good as a first book and to gain the attention of the young baby!
I think the appeal must be the simplicity of line that Lucy Cousins employs in illustrating her rhymes - sing a song of sixpence is so red and colourful and the humpty dumpty page absorbs them every time.
Woudl recommend as a beginning rhyme book without reservation!
