This 2007 single CD release is a compilation of opera's best known arias performed by one of our generations most popular and successful tenors.
None of the recordings are particularly new, ranging from the 1973 version of 'Nessun Dorma' (long before the Three Tenors era) to slightly newer releases like the 1989 'Live like Horses' duet with Elton John.
In between these two are all the favourites like Verdi's 'Brindisi' and 'La Donna e Mobile', and of course Lara's 'Granada'.
Whether this is, or if in fact any 1 CD of just one hour of music could be, the ultimate Pavarotti collection I'm not certain, for there are several other such titled releases available (most notable being Decca's 2 disc compilation ... Read More:

I have recently re-read this fantastic book after acquiring this Reader's Digest Printing to replace the copy my Mother bought me for Christmas 1957
and what memories - the Fear of 'Blind Pew',the bravery of Jim Hawkins -forever one of my favourite stories that has lost nothing through the passage of time
EMI's new 30-disc box-set is one of the truly outstanding contributions to Vaughan Williams' 50th anniversary celebrations. In one collection listeners now have virtually his entire output in recordings ranging from the very good to the exceptional: this set is a tribute of EMI's long-standing commitment to British music (now sadly curtailed).
Vernon Handley's magisterial cycle of the symphonies is beautifully played and recorded, and the major choral works and operas are all presented in excellent performances and recordings. There are some omissions (of course, since EMI did not record absolutely everything Vaughan Williams wrote) but these can be easily rectified through the additional purchase of the opera 'The Poisoned Kiss' and the original ... Not too impressed with the quality of the recording... I was really hoping for something MUCH better than that. If someone could recommended a brilliant audio recording of Carmen that would be just fantastic. This one lets me down I think. The singing is "top-drawer" though.
Having your name extended through qualifications and growing a moustache Dali himself would be proud of does not grant you default access to the soul. High brow nothingness disguised as profound music easily sways sheep. Drop the education, open your heart, and wake up.

If you have never listened to minimalist music this should be your point of departure. I have played this CD to the unsuspecting, as background music, and in the process won over the even the most ardent sceptics.

At £2.98 this has to be one of the best bargains I've ever had. Bryn Terfel is world class and this album is simply sublime. Every track is a joy. This is my favourite of his albums.
I first heard Bryn many years ago when he took part in the 'Cardiff Singer of the World' & won his class. His continued success has been a pleasure to see & I just can't get enough of his glorious voice.
Buy it for someone you love!
Ardderchog Bryn! I would dearly love him to record 'I'll Walk With God' too.
