i've loved the Jonathan creek series right from the beginning, Alan Davies plays such a good part, along with Caroline Quentin, they go together like bread and butter, the banter between them is so amusing, never quite getting together, this box set was a very good investment as i will have hours and hours of my fave viewing for years to come. the story lines have all been good, and i love the explanations at the end of each programme.

This show is just brilliant, it has the best comedians on it and as always Steven Fry shares his intelligence with no trace of being condescending. Alan is great in it too but for his boyishness.
As for the one bad review on here, I looked at that persons other reviews and it's clear that that person is a troll just looking for attention.

This is as good as all the reviews claim. However we still need to wait for the Shogun Redux version since this is NOT the complete version. There remain many scenes (I recall four vividly) which would deepen and extend the experience; turn it, if you like, from a concerto to the symphony it first was. It is a pity it is described as complete when patently it is not.

As one of those outside the UK, I too caught QI on a visit there. I recall thinking "This is brilliant! Why don't we have this in Australia?!" Jet lag be damned, I stayed up to watch it each and every time it was on and was never disappointed. Thankfully, I'm slowly catching up on the series and reliving the hilarity. Thank goodness for the humour of Stephen Fry, and the affability of Alan Davies. The guests all make for interesting viewing, even if at times I don't always know who they are! (although there are familiar faces thanks to a good deal of visiting comedians and UK shows here).
QI is at last a game show that informs whilst retaining a sense of humour without the slightest trace of condescension. A must for all those who seek knowledge, ... Read More:

I bought this for my 6 and 9 year old girls, we watched it once and they told me they never want to see it again.
They sat horror-struck at the worsening cruelty and rejection suffered by the poor horse. Me too.I kept wondering why it's hailed as a great family film when we all felt miserable by the end! Not even seeing Sean could cheer me up.
I daren't even give it to a charity shop for fear of traumatising any more kids.

Some of the jokes are a little dated (the one about the gay pilots confused me; how is that bit funny?), but mostly the routine stands up to scrutiny. The sequence about the cats is one of the funniest in stand-up.
I'm not a connoisseur, but I don't think Davies' delivery is very good. I think he's much better in panel shows, e.g. his continued spot on QI, than live stand-up. His jokes are, while very well-written, quite evidently well-rehearsed and edited before the show (although his delivery is MUCH better than the robotic parrotings of Jimmy Carr).
I'd say if you're a fan of Alan Davies or interested in 90s Comedy, give it a shot.

Wonderful movie with wonderful story, wonderful actors, wondurvel costumes and wonderful music from Henry Mancini. Sophia represent in this movie completely another side of her talent at movie making. The story interested me from first view and I fall in love. Definetly buy and watch!

Jonathan Creek is the best comedy drama ever to appear on television. It is immensely clever, using plots and intricate mysteries that are always resolved brilliantly. The characters are wonderrful: laid-back, windmill inhabiting, illusionist Jonathan Creek and his unorthoxdox, bossy journalist Maddy made a wonderful team as they partner each other to solve many perplexing crimes. This DVS contains the complete first and second series and shouldn't be missed. Brilliant!

This is one of those series you want to watch again and again. The mysteries are intriguing - gritty and edgy without being (or needing to be) brutal or stomach turning. Certainly I find that once I'm absorbed in an episode I simply can't bring myself to leave the room even for the most urgent of life's necessities.
Hetty Wainthropp Investigates exudes warmth and character while maintaining it's modern edge - as does Hetty Wainthropp herself, played by Patricia Routledge. She's the sort of 'salt of the earth' woman - shrewd, grounded, courageous and generous - you want on your side.
Hetty's character is wonderfully offset by younger colleague Geoffery who's youthful zest, good nature and growing abilities are immediately appealing and the two bounce off each ... Read More:
