24 came back and this time we have a bigger threat, a bigger bad guy and even bigger episodes.

I love this season, i always get extra excited when i put the first disc in. The writers always think of fantastic new moments to put in their series and this has loads.

As usual you need to overlook the fact that all the big events happen in the hour and that everywhere is within 10 minutes of everywhere but look past that and you will have an amazing time.

If you thought that 3 was not as good as the first two then rest assured that this definately is.

This movie is a musical, there is no denying that. It is an adaptation from an original off-broadway show which had some, but not great, critical success. Versions of it have been staged all over the world, albeit in small - sometimes amateur theatres. If muscials are your type of thing then great, but even if they aren't, this movie has so much more. It has a real heart.

If you are looking for a movie about decency, humour, love and sacrifice - then look no further. This movie has to be one of my favourites of all time. The songs in it are not just musical numbers. They move the piece forward and give us insight into Hedwig's past and present feelings. They stand extreamely well on their own, but when placed into this medium of a fantastic story, ... The three lead actors acted well, within the severe limitations of the anodyne script, but this was a shallow and sugar-coated film that wasn't a patch on "Iris", either for realism or emotion. I was starting to wonder if the two Alzheimers patients and their spouses were going to get together as a soft-focussed foursome and gambol across the snowy fields in slow motion, playing snowballs.

There's a Little Red Riding-hood, a Big Bad Wolf, and a host of other hacker characters offering an eye fest of couture - they're all clothed by Jean Paul Gaultier - and who off-screen must have been frantically slipping in and out of this wonderful gear. Iain Softley has woven sound into image in a beautiful way, some of the best in the movies I guess, and though the dialogue itself doesn't rate as literature it's as expressive as the music and other noises in its own way. The hacker cast is great - all of them - and I've watched this film time and again, fast-forwarding on only three short scenes. If only the troubles of growing up were as good as this for all of us! Innocence - well almost - meets wicked world in unlikely story. A fairy tale, but I won't say if ... Read More:

This feature should be filed under that elusive category `One of those really good films you have never heard of'. The story is beautifully handled and filmed by Atom Egoyam and is perhaps his best movie to date. The story unfolds at a gentle pace in interconnecting threads and flashbacks and centres around a solid performance from Ian Holm as the troubled lawyer ambulance chasing in a community that has suffered a tragic communal accident whilst battling demons with his own personal tragedy (a hopeless relationship with his drug addicted daughter). Sarah Polley also features strongly in another troubled father/daughter relationship and survivor of the accident who throughout the film narrates the tale of the Pied Piper as a flashback babysitter which is cleverly intertwined ... DVD : White of the Eye

White of the Eye

starring: David Keith, Cathy Moriarty, Alan Rosenberg, Art Evans, Michael Greene
directed by: Donald Cammell
March 27, 2006

Paul White(David Keith) is a devoted husband and father, and is well loved in the community he lives in. He works as an installer of highly advanced satelite television equipment in the homes of wealthy citizens.
Meanwhile, a group of detectives are investigating a series of horrific ritualistic murders, and suspicion falls upon Paul. Could this loving family man really be the perpetrator of these crimes, or is there someone else behind it?
This is an excellent variation on a well worn theme, as Donald Cammell creates a film that is both beautiful to look at, and offers a unique perspective on the slasher genre. Keith gives a remarkable performance as the perfect husband/father with skeletons in the cupboard, and Cathy Moriarty is equally good as his concerned wife. ... Read More:

The Hitman [1991] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

starring: Chuck Norris, Michael Parks, Al Waxman, Alberta Watson, Salim Grant
directed by: Aaron Norris
December 06, 2005

Just out of Soviet fear and the Cold War we were in 1992. Modern American cowboy films had to invent another enemy. Simple recipe: Italian mafia, French mafia, and Iranian mafia, all three together. And there you are. The only place possible is Seattle and Vancouver. The Italians are in Seattle. The French (Canadians) are in Vancouver. And the Iranians are invading with the help of a rotten ex-cop turned drug-lordlet. All that is by far too much and too many. So many will have to be eliminated. What's more there is the ghost of an officially dead cop playing the double agent, and he was officially killed by the rotten ex-cop turned drug-lordlet. And the ghost will finally meet face to face with this drug-lordlet and the latter will be turned into mid-air minced meat, after the three ... Read More:

Compared to the movies of Todd Solondz (Which this movie is blatently trying to emulate) Spanking The Monkey has nothing to offer. It is not cleverly written in any shape or form. No wit, no irony, no nothing. What a let down! I was hoping for a subversive dark black comedy but this is just boring tripe. Never has the subject of incest been so BORING!

The characters have nothing to offer, they are void and boring and the person who plays the mother is such a bad actress. There is no reason as to why they did what they did ... they got a little drunk and he hadn't gotten any in a while. Damn. If this was real life, we'd all be commiting incest. It just doesn't make any sense.

Buy Storytelling or Happiness by Solondz and leave this bore-fest well alone.
