Point one: I don't really like musicals but I watched this with my dearly beloved because she'd heard it was good fun.
Point two: I love Abba and was a big fan way back then and I still think they were just about the best pop group of the 70's.
But this film was just plain nonsense. Of course it wasn't to be taken seriously and was supposed to be fun and light-hearted. But that is no excuse for a) there being NO plot, b) some of the worst casting I have ever come across (Pierce Brosnan?), c) just about the most awful bunch of cover versions of some of the most-beloved songs in recent history.
Sorry, but this is one of the worst cases of exploitation of the value of "star pull" that I have ever come across. ... Read More:

I am what you might call a Mamma Mia addict - I saw it five times at the cinema, and am just about to start watching the DVD for the second time since it arrived on Monday. There is a very good reason for it....the film is fantastic! So funny and light-hearted, and even though some of the singing is quite ropey, this only adds to the film's charm. Meryl Streep's rendition of "The Winner Takes It All" is incredible. If you never buy another DVD again, buy this one! (And the gift set with diary, pen and "surprise" is good too!)

Just finished watching the movie and pretty much all the extras! Absolutely loved the movie (which has already been reviewed many, many times) - best movie musical I've seen since Moulin Rouge. And the Blu Ray - sound and picture - is just stunning. Having been to Skiathos and Skopelos, where this was partially filmed, made me want to go right back. Forget the DVD, buy the Blu Ray. Money well spent...

Raised in Africa, Cady (Lohan) finds life difficult when she moves to a high school in America and meets Regina George (McAdams), leader of the Plastics.
Stereotypes can often be one of those negative elements in films which bring the rating down because of the predictability. They are based along the rules written in modern media. Despite the copycat references to other school and society figures, the teens in this picture are so over stereotyped that it works up a wonderful treat.
Lindsey Lohan (The Parent Trap) stars as central character Cady and gives an obvious performance as the new girl. She does look the part which makes the plot somewhat believable even if we have to follow her around all the time.
this is one of the best tv shows i have seen, it is only second to heroes.
the series revolves around Veronica Mars, a high school student and private investigator in the fictional Southern California seaside town of Neptune. As the daughter of well-respected County Sheriff Keith Mars, Veronica's biggest problem was getting unceremoniously dumped by her boyfriend, Duncan Kane, until the murder of her best friend Lilly Kane (Duncan's sister). With Lilly's murder, however, Veronica's life falls apart. Her father accuses Lilly's father, the popular software billionaire Jake Kane, of being involved in the murder; this provokes Neptune's wrath and causes Keith to lose a recall election. Veronica's mother, Lianne, develops a drinking problem and leaves town. ... Read More:

The first hour or so of this film is very slow moving and tedious, in fact I came very close to giving up on it, but I did persist and the pace and interest levels improve after the first hour. Like the director's better known Blair Witch, this film involves a creepy forest setting. It is another one of those stories where a group of American teenagers go off to spend some holiday time together in the middle of nowhere, and then spooky things happen (you would think the youth of America would have learned it's lesson by now)! The difference here is that one of the teens lost her twin sister the year before and is returning to the house where she spent summers with her. Her dead sister is very much on her mind, even before she suspects that her twin might be trying ... Read More:
