It isn't hard to see why this is a classic amongst lesbians the world over. One of the first (if not the first?) to have a relatively happy ending for the couple and show a love scene between two women.
The story is passionate and realistic in the emotions of fear, longing, love and confusion that are felt by Cay and Vivian. Beautifully filmed with one of the best soundtracks ever - if you like (old) country music!
I can't sing enough praises and I've already watched it about 3/4times in the space of a couple of weeks.
Wow i originally watched this musical in the theatre it wasnt that great but this film sure makes up for that.
Barry Manilow surprisingly good though the end is always sad when Tong dies. Annette O'Toole as Lola fabulous she really shows how the world as a singer was then.
Man Wanted is my favourite song and i just love the way its performed by Manilow and O'Toole.
Would totally recommend for a night in with songs to sing-a-long to and then make you laugh then cry its brilliant!!!

An interesting film which is quite an old fashioned, typical 60's film (similar to Scorsese's first - It's not just you Murray)by the use of speeded up footage and cutting/staggering sequences. Its not particularly engrossing, but its interesting becasue it's bizarre and an early De Palma and De Niro film.
