This revenge film has a lot of action, attitude and good old fashioned destruction. Convincing performances and a real edge to some of the dialogue lift it up. This movie delivers well.

Revolver actually starts off being an interesting idea. Within the first 15-20 minutes the film had me intreagued, but it soon rapidly nose-dives into a bit of an unintentional farce. The story, which started reasonable well, soon resorts into something so stupid that this latest Guy Richie film is the worst Ive seen. Now I have liked many of Guy Richie's previous movies and I respect his attempt at creating something new and different with 'Revolver' .... but it just doesnt work. The plot-line is embarrassingly bad that it almost becomes funny.
I suspect this film has been influenced by the excellent 'Usual Suspects' but at no point does it come close to this classic. This film is as close to a turkey as one could could ... Read More: >>More Details |

Despite the trend towards negativity in the other reviews this movie has received here, this film was in fact an excellent movie. No it was not a Lock Stock or Snatch type of movie, no it did not follow the mold of some of these movies Guy Ritchie has done in the past few years, but it was still an excellent work.
The acting is trashed because the characters being portrayed are not your usual characters, and so what is actually an extremely difficult role very well done is seen as poor acting. The film is confusing because it is meant to have depth, to make you think, and unlike Lock Stock and Snatch it has a theme. This movie has a MESSAGE. John Singleton crafts a nicely paced tale of four brothers on the trail of revenge, like four modern day cowboys, in downtown snowy Detroit following their foster mothers slaying in a convenience store. Good performances from all concerned are accompanied by a tasty motown based soundtrack and a beautifully crisp HD letterbox transfer and excellent HD audio on this blu ray release. Elements of the western, gangsta and 70's exploitation movies combine well to provide an enjoyable romp with a satisfying ending. Not to be treated or judged too seriously, its just entertainment. The disc (which appears to be region-free) has a good number of extras - commentary, features, deleted scenes etc.

If you wanted a Jason Statham collection you should go for one that contains Crank, Lock Stock, Snatch & The Transporter - but as there isnt one, then this collection is not a bad start. War (with jet Li) is not the best outing for both parties but does go a fair way to providing what was expected from the film and is worth having for Jet or Jason fans, but was not much better than "The One", Revolver was not Guy Ritchie's best effort either after Lock Stock & Snatch. The Bank Job & Chaos were both better than I expected in terms of the quality of the direction and acting from all parties involved. And for £17 pounds its well worth the price. 3 out of 5 for the choice of films contained.

Poor, thoroughly dissapointing. I bought this from amazon thinking wow, looks great, must have good fight scenes, plot and so forth. I did watch the whole film through out and it was thoroughly rubbish. starts off well, you follow the protagonist a young boy in a new school with........with a secret, you feel. characters develope well but your always waiting for that something that never comes. Fight scenes not very memorable and your left feeling like you've wasted valuable time on this film.

It started off well and I was impressed with the costumes and the musical touch to this film. It was easy to see from early on that this film was different, and I was waiting for it to blossom into action. However, I found it quite boring and really struggled to watch it to the end because there was nothing happening to intrigue me. Great effort with the set and period theme but definately one that I wish I'd given a miss.
