An absorbing film. Very clever and unusually depicted story-telling. It wasn't obvious what the great drama was going to turn out to be and I was guessing who was who for quite some time. Surreal and very well acted drama which you can see was a stage play originally. The acting and lines are straight from the theatre. And of course the actors are playing out a drama "on stage" themselves. The "play within a play" has the tone, style and plot of classic tragedy - in a highly unusual setting - but then classic tragedy often has been so. Very well acted by all. This is real artistic fusion of cinema and theatre.

Lilies ( Lilies - Les feluettes )

starring: Ian D. Clark, Marcel Sabourin, Aubert Pallascio, Jason Cadieux, Danny Gilmore
directed by: John Greyson

Structured like "Man of La Mancha" (a play within a play) this film cannot hide its roots as a stage play. But who cares?! It's brilliant, and a visual delight. Jason Cadieux is so wonderful, that you find yourself wondering why he usually does small parts in syndicated tv series and not more leading roles in feature films. The most breathtaking performance is given by Brent Carver - the man desivered an Oscar for this role. A film that will haunt you for days after watching it. Bravo!
