Sin City is a stylish, violent, gripping movie - taken almost identically from Frank Miller's comic book you know what you are expecting and Sin City does not disappoint. Sexy beyond belief with Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson and Brittany Murphy all dripping with sex appeal seldom seen in films, scantily clad and plain and simply gorgeous - it works for Sin City. That's before we mention the girls of Old Town. Graphic, stylised violence of first class order - especially in Marv's story which is probably my favourite - always quick pacing, tough gritty and exciting with a story that'll keep you watching. I watched this film on TV the other day. It is absolutely DIRE! The story - a loving, likeable, young couple get married and go through a disasterous honeymoon, then split up on returning to America. Will they get back together? What do you think???!! Typical scene - the couple spend the night stuck in their car in a snowdrift at the edge of a cliff. In the morning, they manage to pull themselves out, then throw a snowball at a passing car in the hope that the driver stops and offers to help pull their car out. The driver, an old woman, reverses into their car, pushing it off the edge of the cliff, raises her middle finger and drives off. If this happened to someone like Basil Fawlty, it would be funny. I do agree with the other reviewer with the lack of extra features. (dvd box set one has those) however, you cannot take away the fact that King of the Hill has to be one of the greatest cartoon box sets of the last few years. You may not be getting the Great 'Simpsons' series three storylines (my faves)but the sweet nature of its story lines and the wise cracks from the supporting charaters (especially Dale)make this just as wothy as the previous and following series. I had never watched this show when a friend gave me the box-set as a gift, and so began viewing holding no preconceptions or expectations. I have now watched the first three series of KOTH, and found them all utterly charming. The show is incredible (in the true sense), in that it inhabits a world which is essentially good (which isn't to say lacking in irritations for poor Hank) but it is a cartoon, after all. Almost every character promotes affection or sympathy, and the friends and family, despite continuously exasperating each other, show each other an amazing level of care and charity. I'd totally forgotten about this film ever being released which says something! However I thought I'd give it a go and add it to my horror collection but I have to say it wasn't all that.
