A lovely, enchanting story. Little Angus MacMorrow is spending an afternoon collecting seashells on the edge of the loch when he finds a strange egg shaped rock which he takes home in his bucket along with his shells. In his fathers workshop the rock hatches into a little water horse, a rare Celtic mythical creature of which there can only be one in the world at the time.
Set during World War II, Angus lives with his sister and mother who is housekeeper at a grand house that has been taken over by the Artillary who have set up post along the loch guarding against enemy submarines. The scenery is breathtaking and the story has something for everyone. There's laughs, tears, goodies and baddies.
Really nice film - Rudolf is very sweet
Daugher was a little bit scared at the snow monster but soon got used to him
good humour too - little elf wants to be a dentist so gets shunned from santa's workshop!
The little characters you see on the cover are animated and they are little puppets

The author of this sultry novel dramatically describes the scenic backdrop and the gritty troubles facing the hero and heroine, Rufus and Claire, in this fast-paced story. The author is also adept at balancing the graver aspects of the story with humor and personality. Love, sensuality, and a burning desire to battle the demons in a hostile world make the Last Train to Memphis a must read.
