Before they were quite so famous, two of the main cast of this superb film gave the performances that would kick their acting careers into the million dollar market.
The film itself will forever be a classic. Its simple and easy to relate to plot has you laughing, crying and remembering your own youth.
The main plot and character are a work of genius and really has your total attention through the whole film. It expands your mind to the further possibles of life and also those missed oppotunities.
So the story is amazing, the acting is fantastically believable and the film is crammed full of modern day superstars. What are you waiting for?!?
Even before the film starts, a little girl of 4 has gone missing from the seedier side of Boston, and a police search is already well under way. A young private investigator is called in, employed by the child's aunt, because he is thought to have connections on the street that the police cannot tap into. He and his female partner set about their task but, somewhat against stereotype in such stories, they are at all times willing to work with, call in or support the police. Eventually lead character Patrick Kenzie, the PI, becomes obsessed with finding little Amanda, perhaps a little more obsessed than the background story leads you to expect.
First of all it's a good story that is never what I would call gripping yet holds your attention at all times. It has few ... Read More:

Strange how many people find a short condemnation of something unhelpul.
Both my wife and I agreed that this was the most tedious film we have ever watched through to the finish. Much of the dialogue needed to be read in subtitles. The pace was deadly slow. This was a case where real life produced a wholly unattractive set of characters doing awful things. How ironic that the murder of a brutal thug should be followed by universal condemnation of his killer who in turn was murdered by someone susequently granted a pardon!
Historic curiousity attracted me to the film. I should have stuck to Wickpedia.

I hate the word critic-surely meaning to criticise. That in itself means that no film could receive a good write up.
Ill briefly review it, as a watcher of maybe, 1 film a week or less, I'm a cabbie and havent the time. I just have an xbox 360 and HD DVD player so I'm taking advantage of the fact that they are discontinued and collecting a lot of films on HD very cheap!
I think all the Oceans' have been great, I'd not seen one before 2 weeks ago. I put on Oceans 13 an hour before work and ended up being an hour late for work......I couldnt wait til the morning!
The planning of the heists is amazing, all 3 in the series are shot fast, slick (Clooney and Pitt making this extremely effective), and I fail to see how anybody could not find the 2nd or 3rd ... Read More:

This film really did defy my expectations. The film tells the story of Ben Affleck, who with his life long friend now runs a small comic. Whilst at a comic book event, Affleck meets Alyssa, who is funny, attractive and shares Affleck's interests. The one problem is Alyssa is a lesbian. Despite this, Affleck and Alyssa develop a very deep friendship, and over time, they realise that despite the issue of sexual orientation, Alyssa and Affleck realise they are meant to be together and embark on a passionate romantic relationship.
However, things do not go well. Alyssa's lesbian friends feel she is "sleeping with the enemy" by dating a man, and Affleck's best friend does not trust her. As he begins to uncover shocking things in her relationship history, he and Affleck almost come ... Read More:

Zach Braff's most recent swill Last Kiss pised me off more than any cinema experience all year. From the grating, false characters to the painfully self-conscious script, I was always aware that I was watching some smug kid's assumption of what love and relationships are all about in the real world.
So contemptuous, so vile, so insipid, and so heavy-handed in its calculated sweetness, that it set new standards for what is becoming the only type of independent film left.

Given no publicity and not shown in cinemas in the UK due to events at the time of release Gone Baby Gone passed by under the carpet.
It is a hidden gem that really shouldn't be missed. If you are a member of the 'yuck, it's Ben Affleck' bandwagon please, don't be put off. If this is anything to go by and he is hanging up the acting, we should have some great stuff in the future - maybe another Good Will Hunting?
Without giving too much away about halfway through there's a major left turn in the way the film is going and it's followed up with a series of them until the end. The only odd thing I found is Michelle Monaghan, I'm not sure that her charactor really needs to be here. Adds a bit of balance I suppose?
I've been thinking of a good way to start my review, I've been pondering many opening sentences, but none of them are close enough to the point, so I've decided to just say that this film is perfect in all aspects. When the credits started to roll I didn't move at all, I sat staring at the screen just thinking about what I just watched. I was trying to understand if what I just saw was really that good, or if I was just thinking it was. The film runs at almost three hours, but never looses your attention for one second. It moves forward through dialog that is poetic, but increasingly haunting at times.
First off, the performances. Brad Pitt as Jesse Jame makes you feel that he is a vulnerable person, and then at the next second he'll make you completely change all your feelings for him. He doesn't ... Read More:
