i think all the in the night garden storys are wonderful. i have three young children and along with my husband we watch as a family. i find their way of kissing and hugging a good way to show young children love and friendship without corrupting their minds. i would much rather see those weird characters hugging and kissing than most thing we see on childrens tv.
some people may find the repeating phrases annoying but it teaches children different sounds very much like the teletubbies did. my two year old son is disabled and has difficulty communicating but since he started to watch it he has been making more sounds and enjoys having them repeated back to him.
also the calming voice of derek jacobi makes it a little bit grown up as he is a ... Read More:

I seem to remember that when this was shown on television (in the eighties?) Christine Edzard got a lot of stick for Little Dorrit. Personally I loved it. And now, twenty years later it has lost none of its brilliance. For the film 5 stars.
The packaging leaves much to be desired. For such an important contribution to Dickens on DVD the presentation is shoddy and meagre. The 'extracts of interviews' with the leading players are short and disappointing. For the packaging 0 stars.

Good God! Russell Crow is one of my favorate actors, and I think this is his best film to date. With a superb supporting cast with the likes of Joaquin Phoenix, Oliver Reed, and Richard Harris. This is a tail of one mans quest to find the man who wronged him. Betrayed by his own emperor, the general turned slave turned gladiator must take on an empire to bring justice to his life.

Shakespeare's Henry V is lavish, poetic and dramatic. The plot is simple: Young Henry V lays claim to the French throne and invades France to claim it. The rag tag English army make their way through France conquering city after city. On their way to Calais, they are met by superior, better equipped and better trained French army at Agincourt.
The English, aware of their inferior numbers and training, begin to despair. Henry V, the leader that he is, inspires his men in the famous words:
If we are marked to die
We are enough to do our country loss
And if [we are] to live the few men the greater share of honour
God's will I pray thee wish not one man more
He who outlives this day will stand a-tiptoe when this day is named ... Read More:

This Animated Shakespeare Box Set, winner of 2 Emmy awards, contains 12 of the bard's plays that were originally broadcast on BBC2 in 1994. The scripts for the 'Animated Tales' have been adapted from the original Shakespeare by Leon Garfield. A reknowed Shakespearean scholar, Garfield worked closely with a panel of academic experts to create plays that are masterfully abridged to only 30 minutes, yet are faithful to Shakespeare's language and plots.
The 12 episodes are :
1. Romeo & Juliet 2. Twelfth Night 3. The Tempest 4. A Midsummer's Nights Dream 5. Richard III 6. Othello 7. The Taming Of The Shrew 8. Macbeth 9. A Winter's Tale 10. ... Read More:

I bought this movie because it was on the TV. I enjoyed it with Nanny McPhee teaching the kids some manners. Nanny McPhee stands for no foolhardiness and doesn't let the children away with any nonscense. She even tells the cook to make them soup which looks rotten and gives them measle medicine with lumps moving about in it. My favourite part was when she gave Mr Brown the fright of his life each night she kept coming to see him. The part at the begining when Mr Brown meet's Nanny McPhee, he thinks she's strange looking and almost jumps out of his skin but he invites her in reluctantly.
Mr Brown's Aunt is a nasty woman but at least she is paying the rent.
The woman who Mr Brown is forced to marry is a bit over the top and it's clear Mr Brown doesn't fancy her but she fancies him. ... Read More:

Great series. Who needs special effects or convincing sets?
However, amongst the cast listed are Charles Laughton and Josef Von Sternberg. This is a remarkable achievement since Josef Von Sternberg had been dead for 7 years in 1976, and Charles Laughton had been dead for 14 years. Von Sternberg had attempted to film I Claudius in 1937, starring Laughton, but the film was never finished. Hope this clears things up a bit!
