Today the world of cinema revolves around Hollywood and America in general providing the oomph to film, much as it does to the world, and it is, as ever really, down to the more-often-than-not capable hands of the European flick to provide a genuine feel, a true emotion that doesn't feel tacked on and if anything, is more real and touching in the purity that often comes with European cinema, than in the actual words that come from the actors mouths.
If I can give Crash anything it's that it genuinely tries. It's an American film that literally tries to leave the ballpark of general mainstream American cinema. Unfortunately it forgets that another of America's flaws when it comes to cinema is over-earnestness and a distinct lack ... Read More:

The storyline completely blows any utopian fantasies away. I was desiccated after two hours. But as I was watching it I realised that this is the tragedy that so many people had to, and some still have to, endure. Be warned, your eyes may not be able to see for a long time after this.

This was one of those films that bites you in the backside. Hard. Harder than most because of both it's subject line and the most shocking thing you'll ever hear. Correction; two of the most shocking things you'll ever hear...
The first is that Adam Sandler is actually appearing in a serious role. The second is that he succeeds. Brilliantly.
To be the face of a man who lost his family to 9/11, was always going to be a difficult task, both from a directors perspective and more so for an actor, so taking on Sandler in the role of the long-time mourning Charlie was a very large risk. Some might say that his performance is a little 'puppy with a broken leg' (it makes you want to cry just by looking at it), but Sandler brings depth and tremendous ... Read More:

I can't understand why this is such a highly rated film!! There is nothing good about it except mindless violence, drug taking and stupid sexual innuendos. Fair enough this film is based on the porn industry so I would be a bit confused if there was no sex in it whatsoever but it's just the way it's shot and acted that seems so tacky. I apologize to people who have put this at the top of their hundred greatest films list but I really disliked it!

Grainy, unsaturated, unclear, blurred edges, terrible white balance, pixelated - all words you can use to describe this Oceans Thirteen release on Blu-Ray. It's absolutely terrible - DO NOT BUY THIS. It literally mocks you for spending a few hundred pounds on a Blu-Ray player, and a thousand pounds on a HDTV just to receive VHS-quality video and sound.
For the record, I own a 40" Samsung Series 6 HDTV, a Samsung BD-P1500/XEU - Blu-ray Disc Player connected with a high-quality platinum HDMI cable.
Comparing this release with the many other Blu-Ray films I have, it's not worth the money at all. If you really must own this, buy the DVD version. It's cheaper, and you will get the same quality sound and picture.

This movie makes a lot of promises all along, but does not manage to materialize them.
Despite some special effects (not all so special in fact), stunting, violence, a bit of glamour, pseudo-cyber links, it does not manage to provide a convincing result.
Some of the characters are well played (namely Ginger (Halle Berry) and Stanley (Hugh Jackman)), John Travolta comfortably plays his proven and apparently preferred tough guy role. But that is not enough.
A movie where people are killed and then resurrected, that leaves the audience wondering who actually end up enjoying the big bucks (the real guy or someone else who had been impersonating him since a not well defined time of the movie), cannot be convincing.
Besides, the reference to terrorism seems ... Read More:

I hate the word critic-surely meaning to criticise. That in itself means that no film could receive a good write up.
Ill briefly review it, as a watcher of maybe, 1 film a week or less, I'm a cabbie and havent the time. I just have an xbox 360 and HD DVD player so I'm taking advantage of the fact that they are discontinued and collecting a lot of films on HD very cheap!
I think all the Oceans' have been great, I'd not seen one before 2 weeks ago. I put on Oceans 13 an hour before work and ended up being an hour late for work......I couldnt wait til the morning!
The planning of the heists is amazing, all 3 in the series are shot fast, slick (Clooney and Pitt making this extremely effective), and I fail to see how anybody could not find the 2nd or ... Read More:
