I don't want to go into any detail. Basically, this is the This Is Spinal Tap of TV. Absolutely bang on satire, but never in a clever-clever way, always in a hilarious, gloriously silly way. If you can watch the news after this and not laugh then either you have no sense of humour or the story is something really horrific.
I hate Sebastian Coe!
This is one of those things you don't need to think about, just buy.

Let me just say right now that I agree with a viewer from Somerset... brilliant. I would have rated it 6 stars, but Amazon will only allow 5.
Perfect comedy, perfect timing. You will not regret buying 'Knowing Me, Knowing You With Alan Partridge' or 'KMKYWAP' for short, or simply, 'The Alan Partridge Show'.
Unlike the superb BBC serialisation that was faithfully based on Mary Norton's book from the 50's, this film has been updated and an American TV star brought in. Unfortunately the script and plot isn't really quite as good as the original book and the out of place slapstick does reduce the tension somewhat. My son (9) and daughter (11) really liked this film, but I preferred the two BBC 'borrowers' series, first screened in 1993 and 1994 (make sure you get the two DVD set, series one and two - 6 hours of quality children's TV). The BBC series is far darker, being played straight with no slapstick and despite the Borrower's amusing antics and the witty script, it's got many quite tense moments and is all the better for it. The special effects in the ... Read More:

Controversial, 'near the mark', sick...... Sound familliar to many other Channel 4 programmes broadcast over the channel's history? Well Brasseye is no different. Chris Morris' dark wit, coupled with a few unsuspecting celebrities, has created one of the deepest and cleverest satire TV shows in recent history.
In a time with 24hour news channels and shows such as crimewatch that try to scare the veiwer into believing some of the most ridiculous things; brasseye comes as a welcome break. Chris Morris, having outdone himself in the series, has inexplicably managed to point the finger at an overimaginative media and an oversensitive public alike. Takling issues such as Animal Cruelty, Drugs, Science, Decline and Sex, the programme immediately ... Read More:

This film really misses the mark. I watched it as a huge fan of British cinema actively and patriotically wanting it to be good. It does have its moments with a few witty throw-away lines and anachronisms (giving you echoes of the Asterix series) but the talents of 3 fine comic actresses (the ever-reliable Sally Phillips does very well as the delightfully named Worthaboutapig) cannot prevail against such a dire script. The idea of gladiatresses taking on the Roman Empire was such a good one too and to succeed the film could have chosen to parody "Gladiator" or even done a "Green Wing" surrealist take on the whole thing but instead and unfortunately the producers opted to make "Carry on Gladiatress" and this wholly dated format just isn't the vehicle for the idea ... This is program is hard to explain its a drama in places, a comedy in others and a soap in others. Every scene is two couples in bed discusing the events of the day. OK that's a rubbish discription but its hard. I bought the first series noing nothing about it I couldn't get over how good it was. The second is just as good. The dialouge is clever witty and the characters so well defined. Everything you'd want from a half hour of tellevison.

This is Harry Enfield at his best. In the second series, characters like the Slobs, the Old Gits, Nice-But-Dim Tim and the Scoucers really get into full swing. These three episodes also contain the classic football match (a team from the '40s versus a '90s team), the Blind Date sketch, the Playboys, English For Aliens and a TV show featuring comparisons on the lives of a working-class man (Wayne Slob) and an upper-class man (Tim). Mention must also go to Paul Whitehouse, Kathy Burke, Jon Glover and Martin Clunes - all great actors and hilarious in their varied roles.
Come on, BBC. Release all Harry Enfield's BBC TV series (or the first three at least) in their complete form on DVD. These are classics which deserve to shine again.
