I got this film for christmas last year and, as a result i was pleasantly surprised at how different it was to all the other musicals. I first watched it as soon as i got it (for an hour); as it went on i thought how bored i was, i think this was because the story seemed to go on and on etc. I wasn't understanding at all what was happening; i realise that i am younger than most people that watch it ,but all my friends seemed to watch it and agree with my opinion of it. This is not the sort of movie I go for, but having read a few glowing reviews elsewhere about the film and the quality of picture and sound, and given that it is selling for well under Â£10, I thought I'd try it. If you don't like musicals then its best to avoid, but I don't mind them and hoped this would be entertaining part of the film. From the outset, the movie is crammed with songs, maybe one or two could be better or one or two less for me, and a little more dialogue. I felt it became a bit too broadway,but seeing as this is taken from the stageshow I can see how it's turned out that way. this was worth the watch when i was 15 coz it had the grand combination of gorgeous elijah, a dolphin, and paul hogan. though i really dont know what paul hogan was doing in florida, but hey, i'm a kenyan in the uk!(yes, it was set in florida, not australia, hence only one person had an australian accent!)good acting from elijah wood, even when he had to contend with such cheese as an evil guy who wanted to feed him to the sharks. cool dolphin. nice place to live!hey, i wouldnt buy it for myself but a 12 year old daughter would probably love you for it! >>More Details

Overly plotted, sloppily directed, but utilizing some passable dance sequences, Take The Lead won't show you anything new that you haven't seen in the documentary Mad Hot Ballroom or even on Fox's You Think You Can Dance. Alfie Woodard and Antonio Banderas indeed save this movie, which is full of clichÃ©d characters and middling dance music cornball. The movie starts off well, combining the world of privilege and elegant ballroom dancing with the frantic world and survival mode existence of rough and tough inner-city high school students.
