A lovely, enchanting story. Little Angus MacMorrow is spending an afternoon collecting seashells on the edge of the loch when he finds a strange egg shaped rock which he takes home in his bucket along with his shells. In his fathers workshop the rock hatches into a little water horse, a rare Celtic mythical creature of which there can only be one in the world at the time.
Set during World War II, Angus lives with his sister and mother who is housekeeper at a grand house that has been taken over by the Artillary who have set up post along the loch guarding against enemy submarines. The scenery is breathtaking and the story has something for everyone. There's laughs, tears, goodies and baddies.
a beautiful film that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. the cast is great and i loved the animtion, these
things make up for a slight lack of story line but it is still a wonderful movie!

The Mill on the Floss has to be my favourite book, and possibly for this reason I have high expectations of any adaptation. The earlier BBC Sunday teatime version was poor with Mrs Tulliver's sisters more suited to pantomime. In this latest version the humour was lost altogether. Worse still the smartly dressed Mr Tulliver, sounds as though he had had 'the good eddication' he wanted for his son. Add to this the silly opening sequence and I would recommend anyone to wait for an Andrew Davies adaptation. I spoke to him recently on this subject & he indicated an interest.

If you like watching films that are true story films (eg. great escape, calender girls etc..) then you'll find this amazing.
The story of Frank McCourt's childhood upbringing in Irish poverty.
Its quite astonishing all the things he did and had to go through and you're kept watching as its so interesting.
I highly recommend you buy it - if you're more of a person for crime or sci-fi thrillers you probably shouldn't.
If you like comedy then this is funny in places eg. at one time Frank was in a hospital bed and people were praying like mad for him and then a Dr came in and farted beside him.
" I was going to die, but what did i care? But it was only when this Dr came to check on me that I knew i was going to get better, because ... Read More:

This is an entertaining enough effort, but cashes in too strongly on The Silence of the Lambs. Hopkins is good as usual, and Edward Norton is particularly good, but the rest feels a little contrived. Not enough of this gels, and it doesn't have the same unsettling vibe as "Manhunter."
Still worth seeing for some good bits, though.

This is Adam Sandler's most interesting film to date. It's a dark comedy with excellent acting from the entire cast. Its well written with subtle and dark humour, but judging by some of Adam Sandler's previous movies and by reading some of the reviews on Amazon; it appears that this film is too intelligent for the fans of Adam Sandler.
If your expecting the usual Adam Sandler movie, like the average Happy Gilmore, then you will be disapointed. However, if you like your comedy dark and subtle; then this is for you. This is a very acomplished film.
Sandler plays a man suffering with mental issues resulting from being brought up surrounded by 7 sisters. Although he runs his own business he is socially backward and struggles in the company of others, ... Read More:
