We are huge CSI fans and I found part 1, season 8 really was disappointing after the usual quality. The build up to saving Sara Sidle was little disappointing, it could have been better.
Many of the story lines are weak, with a good story toward the end. The episode where Sara Sidle leaves is good as is the story line which crosses both CSI and Without A Trace is the best on the disk. It was too short as well, so value for money just isn't there. This isn't reflected in the price (thankfully we picked it up on sale before Christmas for a little over £10, but the price has since jumped back up again) There are some bonus features including a Without A Trace Episode, one episode with commentary, a feature on Sara Sidle's ... This whole series is fantastic, the thinking behind the minature killer is brilliant. The extras on the DVD give you a really interesting insight into how it is all made. The cliff hanger is fantastic, so much so I had to buy the Series 8 Part 1 the day it was released!

If you like crime shows, working out who did it, character led action, great acting, interesting characters and fancy american shows then start from series one, sit down with an IV drip, a potty for your doings and a big load of haribo and watch straight through to this series. It's fanciful, it's fun, it's big and it's good. I wouldn't recommend it if you hate all of the above. But then you're not worth recommending anything to anyway.

This is the second part of season 1 so if whoever's reading this is thinking of buying the second part I would assume that you've got the first 12 episodes. I have already done a review on part 1 but just as a recap, C.S.I is a show based around the graveyard shift of the Las Vegas Criminal Investigations unit following cases they come across and how they solve those cases using forensics.
The second part of this season has 11 episodes instead of 12 like the first part. There are some extras these being interviews with the stars of the show. Don't get too excited though. I am a massive CSI & CSI Miami fan, and would recommend these shows to anyone and everyone, it is hugely popular and the actors are great, the Team of Forensic Scientists are brilliant, the way in which they look at the Crime Scenes and unravel the story as to how the the crime ocurred. It truly is one of the best programmes on TV & Sky at the moment.

I bought this dvd to allow me to make the super saver purchase on another product but i am extremly pleased i did. I personally felt that 2:2 discs of season two were much better than the 2:1 discs. I only recently got into csi but now i am a fan. There are some grusome and clever plots involved, But also more diversity as we learn more about Sarah, Catherine and Grissom. I would thoughrly recomend this to any csi fan! Importantly also this box set contains the episode cross-juristictions which sees the csi team travel to miami on chasing a kidnapper - this is the episode which introduces you to the csi miami team!

This second part of Season three is very much the same as Season 3 Part One. It's still got great acting, stories et al (see my review of Part One) but the storylines are more involved with the characters as well. A lot of stuff happens to the characters in this block of episodes - Catherine experiences a loss, Grissom gets involved with a woman, Greg gets blown up (nearly) and Sara's dream man isn't all what he seems. To top it all off the last couple of episodes are really picking up pace with an explosion in the crime lab and Gil's hearing causing trouble for him. CSI was one of those show's I'd heard of but never watched. Then that magazine came out and bought the first issue and watched the pilot episode and the following one. After that I was hooked. 2 weeks was too long to wait for the next episode so in a strange fit of confusion (desperation?) I bought the first part of Season 3 and proceeded to sit down and watch all the episodes over the course of a month. Each episode is gripping developing the characters and story with startling pace. The characters are likeable, and Grissom is one of those characters who come along in a series once every decade: Mulder, Captain Picard, Gil Grissom. This Season is a return to the superior entertainment of Seasons 1 and 2 (I thought Season 3 was only 'OK', with too many below-par episodes).
The scripts have more of a bias towards the CSI team as personalities and, most importantly, the crime plots are once again superior to anything else on TV; the best example in Part 2 being 'Early Rollout'. One factor of the DVDs which continues to be a disappointment are the episode commentaries. They are, with the exception of 'Bad to the Bone ', awful. Rather than give interesting insights into the episode production, there is too much friendly chit-chat between the contributors and way too much time spent saying how good someone was or what a great job so-and-so did.
