Its hard to think of anything negative about these two excellent films (not going to repeat the story again-there are plenty of reviews here). However its worth noting that the slowness in the pace of these films mirrors the lives and setting of the characters portraid within. If you have the time (4 hours) and patience you see the story unfolding rather than punching you in the face! The ending is one of the best, in that it is unexpected and jaw dropping. Ignore the negativity from other reviews, pseudo experts who hint but fail to suggest of better, buy them and see for yourself, it will be money well spent

This is an eclectic collection of love tales set in Paris , some slightly dull and some just brilliant . The whole movie is worth watching just because of the Coen brothers film with Steve Buscemi and the romance between a boy and a vampire.

There are a lot of familiar faces in the movie and the short films a generally well directed , just because is 18 of them , it feels a little short.

Actually this is an enjoyable enough movie for those who love Glenn Close or Ioan Gruffudd, and there are lots of fun elements to enjoy. The parrot who thinks he is a dog is an absolute scream, and the film itself is well made and well shot in my opinion. There is nothing really wrong with it except for the story itself. I can't even fault the script really...I think they did the best they could under the circumstances, and the actors all came up trumps...but as I say it's the story that lets the whole thing down.
Sometimes an original story based on established characters can work well (and has done), but this is not one of them. The story in my opinion is far-fetched even for a Disney film, and rather daft, but all in all it makes the most of what ... Read More:

I was honestly not expecting much from this film. The storyline looked pretty depressing but I still felt like I was missing something so I decided to watch it. How happy was I when I'd finished watching it! It was a great and heartwarming film with good performances from the cast and a comic stance which I loved! I'd really recommend this film to anyone who wants to see someone enjoy the time they have on earth as much as they can.

The Closet [2001]

Daniel Auteuil is Pignon, a man who's considered to be boring, straight laced, and rather uninteresting. When Santini (Gérard Depardieu) and his friends suggest Pignon should be sacked - Pignon decides to end it all. It's only because of a new found friend he finds a way to fool the masses at the condom factory and keep his job.

This isn't as funny as Le Diner De Cons nor Tais-Toi; but they're classics and it's hard to follow such a great act, but it's a very good film, Gérard is very funny as macho man Felix, and the welcome return of Thierry Lhermitte, one of Felix's friends. I also enjoyed the roles played by his secretaries: Michèle Laroque (Madame Bertrand) and Alexandra Vandernoot (Christine), as they had some great lines. Also good to ... Read More:

DVD : Hamlet (2 Disc Special Edition)

Hamlet (2 Disc Special Edition)

starring: Kenneth Branagh, Julie Christie, Billy Crystal, Gerard Depardieu, Charlton Heston
directed by: Kenneth Branagh
September 24, 2007

This is without a doubt, the greatest, most heartbreaking, opulent and involving adaptation of Hamlet that will ever, ever, ever be in existence. We have seen 3 versions in our Shakespeare-obsessional career, and this is absolutely and by far the best. You just cannot compare this to anything else. It's our favourite film in the whole wide world. Kenneth Branagh delivers his lines with subtlety, genuine emotion and real understanding, which is key. He is our favourite actor in the world due to this film alone! Don't let the length put you off, you won't want it to end even after 4 hours. It is a joy to watch!

The DVD from 2000 is very disappointing from a technical point of view, but this is a great improvement (it goes without saying that the film is wonderful). I had the earlier one and gladly replaced it with this and I'm here to spread the good news...

Not only is this a hilarious film, it's clever. Anyone who didn't like it probably didn't get the insider jokes e.g. Elixire Pour Olympiques, commonly known as EPO; the streamlined red chariot driven by Michael Schaumacher; the invention of the air-filled ball that you can kick into a fish net ("That idea will never catch on.") and a very insider joke for Spanish audiences - the princess's headgear was based on that of La Dama de Elche (a famous ancient statue.) I rented the film, watched it twice, and now I'm going to buy it. (The soundtrack in Spanish was actually funnier than the French one.)

A visually stunning drama, and performance, accounting the story of Columbus and, his conquest, to find the new world. I found this film to be both, exciting, and from a historical view, fascinating, giving a great insight to what life was like back then.
What really makes this film special, is the stunning acting of, Depardieu. He really brings the character of Columbus to life, with so much drive and passion, to follow his dreams despite, ridicule and uninterest of his plan from others.
The film is brilliantly directed, as you'd expect from a great Director such as, Riddley Scott, and very atmospheric.
A great story, and, what I consider, a true movie classic.
I myself, have been on the replica Santa maria, moored in Barcelona harbour, that columbus sailed. I couldn't believe ... Read More:
