I bought this film only because of the good reviews. It would not normally be my type of thing. I shall not cover the film in detail as others have already done it better. However the film has stayed with me ever since. It is an incredible film, made all the better if you dont already know the story (which I didn't) and you dont know the ending (which I didn't). Buy this film but dont figure it out first. Let it run its course - you wont regret it!

All The President's Men (2 Disc Special Edition) [1976]Another one of my Dad's favorite movies. He was in college during the Watergate Scandal and followed it thoroughly. I saw the movie from his collection. The EXCELLENT FILM is based on the story of two reporters for the Washington Post, Carl Bernstein(Dustin Hoffman) and Robert Woodward(Robert Redford), who stumbled across a potential lead for a story that snow-balled, to their continued horror, to the incrimination of and forced resignation of President, Richard Nixon. Fed by the mysterious "Deep Throat", Bernstein and Woodward put their own pieces together, sold two and a half million copies of the Post and won a Pulitzer Prize. The script by William Goldman and based on Bernstein's and Woodward's ... Read More:

I bought this DVD for my 3 year old Grandson based on customer reviews except the oldest review which I unfortunately missed out. If I had read it, I would have chosen another DVD.
I do agree that this movie is for slightly older children (6 or 7 +). My Grandson was very attentive to most of it but kept losing interest as he found it difficult to concentrate on the story, unable to relate to the humour and ancient Greek setting (temples, muses etc). Also, although humourous and funny to us, some of the 'nasty' characters and monsters that play a major role in the film with impressive effects, made him quite scared.
However, I feel this movie is fantastic all round and superbly produced. It is a must see but I would recommend Toy Story ... Read More:

A very sharply written and well acted movie having a real go at the excessive practices of some financial market traders in the boomtime 1980s, which as we know now, despite severe legislation, still go on. Benefited from being made right smack in the middle of it. Douglas has a wail of a time as the megabucks megelamaniac who causes chaos with his amoral and ruthless buying practices. It all looks like caricature from a typically liberal Hollywood team, but we have recently seen excessive and illegal practices far worse than those depicted in this movie, and the global harm and chaos they cause.
Maybe it was all a little predictable but it was very smartly handled by the director and made for great entertainment. The rich dialogue borders on the sententious, ... Read More:

One of the best horror anthologies to come out of the early 80s and one I practically grew up with. Using a very clever homage to the old EC horror comics and with it's black swollen tongue stuck firmly in it's skeletal cheek, this film takes us through a series of absolutely brilliant macabre stories specially written by Stephen King.
Classics include the wrath of a father who just wants his cake, a vengeful murderous husband who gets in some serious deep water..*snigger*, a hapless fool who should never have touched a fallen meteor, a desperately unhappy man finding the perfect alternative to a divorce thanks to the unlikely discovery of a crate and a contemptible tycoon with a phobia of bugs getting just what he deserves. There's also a neat little filler story ... Read More:

I have every film adapted from John Grisham's novels except for The Gingerbread man, without a shadow of a doubt this is at best an okay film, it does not even begin to touch A time to kill, The Client, Runaway jury or The Chamber and whilst not being blown away by either The Rainmaker nor The Pelican brief, they are both comfortably better films than this.
The film lacks the power, conviction and the direction of all of those films listed.
An excellent cast with 2 of my favourite actors in Gene Hackman and Tom Cruise, but even they are not at their best by some way, the only reason why Tom Cruise stands out is due to his being on screen for most of the film, Gary Busey is barely in the film, maybe a couple of minutes at best.
I'm not sure I rate this film as highly as some others. For me a 5 star film is really good and watchable again. This film is good viewing the first time but is fairly predictable and is not going to be a film to put in the DVD player repeatably. At £ 3 though it's worth a buy.

This is the first Blu-ray disc that I buy that is a disappointment. In the best scenes the image is only marginally better than on a good DVD and at its worst the image is so soft and lacking detail that it looks blured. I've seen average DVDs with much better average quality than this. Since I didn't have a DVD version of this specific film I can't compare it to previous DVD releases, but I doubt this is the best that can be done from a good master of the film.
If you have a previous DVD release, don't bother wasting your money in this release, unless your version is atrociously bad. But then again, there are some atrociously bad scenes in this version too.

The Battle of Midway is a great film with many great actors giving great performances in a story of the turning point in the Pacific War. OK the filmakers did save money by reusing FX from Tora Tora Tora and 30 Seconds over Tokyo but that does not take away from one of the best stories of world War 2.

I loved Fletch, from the moment I saw the first film I thought that this was a great film, and even the second one rated highly in my mind. Perhaps it is a touch of 80's nostalgia (apparently a rather typically UK thing) but I always thought these films weren't as loved as some commedians vehicles to stardom (Eddie Murphy for example). I was so happy to see that I could get these two films together, it's just a shame that there weren't any extras, not even a trailer!
