Johnny Depp plays a detective who is addicted to Opium.While spaced out he has dreams that have a habit of coming true.He sees faces and events involved in murders that he later has to investigate.The film tells the story of Jack the Ripper and gives a very believable account of a Royal being involved,along with freemasons and elements within the Police force trying to cover up a scandal that would lead straight back to the Queen.There is some bad language,a touch of nudity,a lot of violence,cleverly handled, but i think the 18 Cert is a little harsh.Both my wife and myself thoroughly enjoyed this film and we highly recommend it. >>More Details

what a nice film. Surprisingly poignant and humourous, I do think Colin Firth is a pretty great actor and I have to say through clenched teeth that I feel the same way about irritating Minnie Driver!! There was such a nice gentle feel to this film that at the end you wish there was more to come. A great feel good film for your collection. >>More Details

I can't understand why this is such a highly rated film!! There is nothing good about it except mindless violence, drug taking and stupid sexual innuendos. Fair enough this film is based on the porn industry so I would be a bit confused if there was no sex in it whatsoever but it's just the way it's shot and acted that seems so tacky. After watching Bobby for knocking on an hour you could be forgiven for thinking you are watching a soap opera -a classy extremely well cast soap opera mind- but a soap opera none the less. So far we have been introduced into the lives of several characters in and around the Ambassador Hotel Los Angeles interspersed with clips of Robert Kennedy giving speeches , interviews etc. If you are unaware of the background to the assassination of Robert Kennedy you will probably be scratching your head wondering where all this is going . It becomes much clearer by the film ending ( nice to know it was going somewhere) but many will have lost interest by then. I first watched this film at University, after a friend bought it and stuck it on the communal DVD player; then watched it again, and again, and now watch my own copy of it from time to time eight years on. The soundtrack is great, the direction is great, and everything just seems to work really well. The characters are all also genuinley likable, with Vince Vaughn's performance being particularly memorable. Its also hilarious at times, right up until the end. >>More Details

After watching this film, I have absolutely no idea what the point was! Heather graham plays a girl (Gray) who's best friend is her brother - they live together, they go out together etc. After they are mistaken for a couple, they decide that it is time they found a girlfriend/ boyfriend for each other. Gray meets a girl called Charlie, who she thinks is perfect for her brother, so introduces them, and within 24 hours they are engaged! They set the date for the wedding for 2 weeks time, and off they go to get married. Gray and Charlie have a sort of hen night together the night before the wedding, and share a drunken kiss. I stumbled on this movie quite "accidentally" on TV, zapping around, and I was transfixed. I had not heard of this movie before and I wonder how, it is breathtaking. Point taken from other reviewers who speak of cliches, poor characters etc, but I actually see this as a strong point. The characters seem quite rigid in some sort of stereotype, and this makes this movie quite orginal I think. Anyway, I had a great time, the action is just non stop, new things happen all the time, it is an amazing rollercoaster ride in space. The special effects are indeed incredible, everybody will have to agree on that. Anyway: a movie to have a great time, but probably not worth watching more than once. >>More Details

This is a really weird film for me. I've only ever seen it twice, and it having been some time since I saw it the first time around, I was surprised to find that on my second viewing, I'd only really remembered about the first twenty minutes or so - a part which had stuck in my mind quite vividly. Despite its suspense-type thriller content, along with some really explicit scenes featuring 'kinky' sex, ironically, the most memorable moments in this film for me are the romantic ones.
