For anyone who hasn't inhabited Earth and missed this one then it comes highly recommended as one of the best fantasy Romantic Comedy drama's with a fantastic soundtrack ranging from Roy Orbison's "Pretty Woman" from the title and Roxette's classic "It must have been Love"...Richard Gere plays an ultra wealthy business property tycoon Edward Lewis obsessed with the kill but lonely enough to employ the services of an apprentice hooker in Vivian Ward played by Julia Roberts only to find that love can be sought in the strangest places....Welcome to Hollywood and what's your dream...well Vivian wanted all or nothing whilst Edward just wanted a short hire and fire with no strings......what followed was one of the most chemistry based modern romantic ... This is a wonderful film, would have been nice if it had been a little longer but really did enjoy it. It does make you think "Does this kind of thing really happen?" Hope there's a follow-on because I'll be wanting to see it.

Amazon kept recommending this DVD to me coz I bought a couple of cheech & chong. The only similarity was the topic; there was no comparison in the quality of the comedy. There wasn't an original idea in the whole film just weakly made pale imitations of much better films such as Nice Dreams and Animal House. On its own merits its ok and worth a watch if really you like stoner comedy, but don't expect a classic.

This story is both funny and Heartwarming, with teary moments inbetween. It starts with the gorky school girl, Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway), going through normal life with her wish to be invisible. But this wish is challenged when her estranged grandmother (Julie Andrews) arrives from Genovia with the hope that Mia will follow in her footsteps by becoming Princess of Genovia. Mia reluctantly accepts after many trials and tribulations.
Halfway through this memorable film, you as a viewer begin to wonder:
After an awful beach party, loosing friends and her grandmother falling in love with a bodyguard, can she cope or will she do the same as her father?
This is without question one of the best thrillers of the decade. Unique I feel in the genre for its mix of comedy and violence. Similar but superior to Arthur Hillers much underrated Silver Streak. The combination of the world weary Walter Mattau and Roberts Shaws ice cold crook is I feel the balance that makes the film work so well. The supporting cast are all excellent including Ben Stillers dad Jerry. Any completists reading this you have to buy this DVD and give it pride of place in your thriller collection.

This is Pacino and Pfeiffer - not since Scarface have they starred together and with the spectacular but bloody end of the former film - it is fantastic to see them together cleaning teeth at the end of this film....
Amazon review seems to imply the star quality is not used - rubbish - these two were made to play off each other - watch Scarface and then watch this - its like a reunion but in better days. Al Pacino carries both roles off within 10 years of each other - the comparison is dramatic as this film is light, entertaining and above all else - finishes on a high - watch it with your loved one, or when you have just split up - either way hope is here - thanks Al and Michelle.....

Well, the two leads Julia Roberts and Richard Gere and great director Garry Marshall are all reunited here after the first movie they made together, the good movie Pretty Woman and they do a pretty good job here too.
This is a highly watchable 80's romantic melodrama where the usual boy-girl relationship gets involved but Set against a military training environment. The acting performances from a great cast in this movie is what makes this movie what it is, a classic. And the movie is one of those that keeps you watching until the end. A subplot is included to add to the movies goodness and together this makes for a great all time classic movie.
The main character in American Gigolo plays a role that is of average performance and the movie is one that starts lively at the beggining and then dies down. The storyline is balanced out rather well and the movie is one that keeps you watching but this isn't as good as An Officer and a Gentleman. There is a lot of good parts to this ... Read More:

This highly anticipated straight-to-DVD movie sadly didn't live up to most of my expectations. I was really looking forward to this movie as it was the first time we'd get to explore the animated Batman's world since the series came to an end in 2000. Unfortunately, almost none of what fans have come to love about the animated series is present in this rushed final product. The animation is not very impressive, the moody gothic imagery from the original animated series is completely absent, and the classic Batman theme music is only heard for a brief few seconds in a couple of places! I couldn't understand why this was until I watched the the extra features, where it was explained that the producers wanted to distance themselves from the dark look of the original series and go for ...
