Great entertainment! Ok, maybe it's just a B Movie, but what a B Movie!
Visually spectacular, with stunning CGI & miniature work that is perfectly integrated - the giant serpents/dragons are really impressive - it's fantastic to see a movie pitting Apache gunships, tanks and SWAT teams against mythical monsters and legions of evil warriors, all to a backdrop of modern day LA. Haven't really seen this mix before!
The photography, and the visual quality of the DVD are excellent - razor sharp picture. The production values are every bit as high as anything that Hollywood offers. The only reason that I can't give 5 stars, is the principal lead, Jason Behr is very wooden, and there are one or two really 'made for tv' feel characters. ... Read More:

I'm always on the lookout for good old fashioned family movies with no innapropriate moments that I can share with my family - and this is one of them.
However this film is better than I suspected it would be from the synopsis, and has quite a lot of emotional depth - especially in the relationships between Kurt Rusell, his father as played by Kris Kristofersen (inspired casting) and his daughter as played by Dakota Fanning (who incidentally gives a very strong performance). Dreamer neatly avoids most of the traps of sugary sweetness that characterize this type of film when made by (for example) Disney, and instead takes a fairly honest look at dysfunctional relationships, dissapointment and the hard choices which adults are forced to make ... This review only needs to be short. If you are interested in 2012, zeitgeist, the 4th dimension and so on, you will adore this film, and find its plot understandable, fascinating and thrilling. I find a lot of people who have no clue what this film is about, i advice these to either read 2012 or continue renting die hard or legally blonde, as it will make no sense.
Nothing compares when a well written novel with a simple but plausible plot meets an equally well crafted and acted movie.
I had read Graham Greene's cynical book in the late 70's and had seen Mankiewicz's film too. For some reason that film, to me, never seemed to quite capture the right mood of the characters.
Bring on Michael Cain and Brendan Frasier, and suddenly I felt that my vision of this book had been answered; a political cloak-and-dagger thriller that includes a love triangle, passionate and spiked with intrigue, mirroring on a personal scale the dangers that Vietnam would eventually bring America.
I think this to be one of the best later Caine movies, laconic but scient acting well rounded off by Fraser's ... Read More:

Donnie Darko is by far my favourite film. No other film reaches deep inside of me and carries me away like Donnie Darko does.
Many of my friends hate it because they "don't understand it" or "it doesn't make sense". They just don't get it though. Of course there are flaws but that is why it is one of the greatest films created in recent years. Whatever your thoughts, it makes you think.
The storyline is the most imaginative I have come across, every actor and actress is perfect for their role, every song is beautiful and the camera work is stunning.
I can think of a few words to describe Donnie Darko - dark, upsetting, thought provoking and beautiful.
Donnie Darko is a remarkable writing and directing debut for Richard Kelly and the film which deservedly propelled Jake Gyllenhaall to stardom. It's a brainteasing sci-fi film at heart but it's appeal is bolstered by convincing performances across the board, particularly Maggie Gyllenhaall, Mary McDonnell and Holmes Osbourne as Donnie's family and Drew Barrymore as his English teacher as well as Jake Gyllenhaall in the title role. Noah Wyle of ER fame makes a rare decent film appearance as another of Donnie's teachers and Patrick Swayze is well cast as a slick self help guru. Personally Jena Malone was the most endearing cast member and was wholly believable as the melancholy new girl who Donnie falls for.
Do your self a favour and do not purchase this terrible movie. My 6 and 9 year old thought it was great but I am sorry, terrible story, action "so-so" acting, totally apalling.

The Deep End is an ambitious but ultimately frustrating and disappointing movie. Leading lady Tilda Swanson is hard to warm to as is her obnoxious son, so the whole drive of the film is lost as we end up not caring whether the characters succeed or fail . It's also another of those over-contrived films whereby you can't help but feel that if the main characters had just come clean in the first place then the proceeding events would have been avoided. There is very little in the way of tension which is a must in a thriller and the whole thing meanders to a disappointing end. Credit must be given to the fimmakers for attempting a different slant on the murder/blackmail genre but this fails to please in most areas.

I enjoyed this film, this time Carol Cartman is Scrooge and is just as evil as him.
She gets visited by the three ghost and the first ghost is her Aunt Marla telling her to buck up her ideas. The second ghost is William Shatner and the last ghost is a creepy old man in a black car.
I bought this through Amazon.com.
