Brilliant animation, endearing central 'character', nice plot line, and the environmental issues are well handled , and not rammed down your throat - consequently they will be lost on most of the kids that watch it , I suspect - nevertheless , it's good to see it in mainstream cinema , and you never know, subliminally....................
However , the intensity and pace of the action really got to me about 3/4 of the way through, and 1/2 hour of it could have been cut out ( and I don't usually have attention span problems - it was the same in Ratatouille - why do the always overdo a good thing? - it's for kids for god's sake, they are happy with a shorter film ).
see it though!

Bad,Bad, science fiction. Staggering, so limited in scope and view. This film is behind even existing tech. Just read one of the Ian Banks Culture novels to understand. If you don't know it's real now, you are already too late!

Yes this is basically a kids film, but as a 40+ person with no kids who has purchased the DVD, I'll happily own up to being an adult who loves this film.
This film set the benchmark for computer animated films when it was released in 1995 and it still looks good today. The story is simple and the characters are marvellous. Whoever thought of the idea that Buzz Lightyear could be a toy who believes he really is a Space Ranger deserved an Oscar. Its a brilliantly conceived idea, which has a funny and at times touching script.
Its also worth mentioning the that the songs are by Randy Newman, a vastly underrated musician and songwriter, whose Uncles wrote the music for some the great Hollywood movies of the 40's and 50's.
I am major fan of the Disney Pixar movies and always eagerly await the next one. I do like this film but personally I don't find it as funny as movies like Toy Story 1 & 2 and The Incredibles. Having said that there are some great characters in this film and being an animal lover I think all the rats are adorable. Overall though I would give the film itself 4 out of 5. As this is a 2 disc special with the animated shorts on, the overall package is definately a 5 out of 5. I would definately recommend getting this package as the shorts are great to watch. Some you will have already seen before but most you probably won't. I especially liked the alien abduction short, I almost wet myself laughing at that one. I would definately recommend this 2 disc special to anyone, ... Read More:

When "Toy Story" came out in the cinemas in 1995, it was seen as a revolutionary breakthrough in animation. This being the first computer generated animated film. So basically this film inspired the computer generated animated film hits "Shrek", "A Bug's Life", "Antz" and others including "The Incredibles" and "Cars".
"Toy Story" has a really fun and moving plot line. Woody (Tom Hanks), is in charge of the toys in Andy's room. He's also Andy's favourite toy. That is until Andy's birthday gets brought forward a week early and his mother gives him a surprise birthday present. That turns out to be Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen). Woody and Buzz have their disagreements but they get to respect one another before too long and they find themselves on a mission to ... Read More:

Alcoholism is a very serious contagious disease, and I think the fact that shows like this 'Cheers' debacle even exist, and are happy to ridicule and make fun of this condition is a terrible slight on our 21st century culture. My dear old uncle Harry (God rest his bloated soul) was crippled and eventually succumbed to his love of Baileys, and if he was alive to witness this filth, he would turn in his grave and die all over again.
However, it achieves a bonus star simply for not being the disgraceful spin-off series 'Frasier', in which some doomed wretch decided it would be fine to make fun of the mentally ill. What's next? Is the next big American sitcom going to consist of a band of paraplegic mutes attempting ... Read More:

This was where Cheers really took off. Season two saw the beginning of the Sam/Diane relationship which would continue to be on agian/off agian for the next 3 years and formed the basis for most of the plots. This season is full of so many great moments such as Diane trying to impress Dick Cavertt with her poetry. For me though a real classic moment was the pre credits sequence in the episode Battle of the Exes when Diane tries to book a romantic weekend at a little hotel by a lake hoping that Sam will come to think of it as 'Their' place only to be asked when she books a room for Malone if she is talkng about Sam Malone and does she want his usual room?
