This film is about seven old school friends who were stalked by an evil clown when they were kids. But thirty something years later the defeated monster comes back from god knows where to seek revenge. ThIs is where the story begins and the film becomes repetitive. You watch the crazy clown make seven personal and anti-social visits to each one of the characters, struck with terror each one of the seven characters thinks back thirty years to when they first saw the clown and how it could come back after so long, unfortunately the film takes you back with them to bore you with their boy scout childhoods. At this point it felt like i was watching a childrens adventure like the goonies not a horror film. And if that wasn't enough, you then get ... Read More:

One of the cleverest adult comedies released in a long time. A down an out con man who is rotten to the core discovers a purpose as he starts to befriend a boy who is an easy target for bullies. One may think the drunk-playing-Santa theme would wear off quite quickly but the lines keep on coming and some of the scenes need a cachinnate cramp warning.
Billy Bob Thornton is so good in this role one kind of marvels at how much fun he must have had researching it. For me Tony Cox stole this one as the acid-tongued elf constantly covering for Santa's misdemeanours.
If you're expecting Dickens you'll be offended. If you want a 90 minute laugh, this is one of the best you'll get.

Although I enjoyed it immensely the first time, this hysterical showbiz farce, gets funnier with each viewing. It is also a good idea to watch it at least once with the subtitles on, since the dialogue is extremely fast paced. The the ensemble cast is delightful. Michael Caine plays the two-timing director with his usual perfection, and Carol Burnett plays the temperamental leading lady with her usual panache. Both John Ritter and Christopher Reeve are very funny, the former as the neurotic leading man and the latter as a dim-witted method actor who has to have his off-stage beat for removing a box of groceries explained to him. Marylu Henner and Nicolette Sheridan are convincing in their supporting roles, as is Denholm Elliott, a has-been actor who hides bottles ... Read More:

Sling Blade was the first film I ever watched, starring Billy Bob Thornton. I'm eternally grateful that I ever saw it, because it led me on to A Simple Plan, Bandits, Bad Santa etc. (We'll forgive him his momentary lapse in Armageddon!).
Yes, it's long and a little slow-paced. But, in its defence, it has a wonderful performance from a very young Lucas Black, and some shockingly good acting from Country & Western singer, Dwight Yoakam. There are some truly heartbreaking scenes - most notably when Karl re-visits his former home, and surveys the pitiful last resting place of his baby brother.
For me though, what made this film so particularly special, was the enormous amount of empathy I felt for a former killer, who you just know has murder ... Read More:
