This revenge film has a lot of action, attitude and good old fashioned destruction. Convincing performances and a real edge to some of the dialogue lift it up. This movie delivers well.

An entertaining movie but not the best muppet caper.
Gonzo is feeling different and lonely. Nothing his muppet buddies do can make him feel any better. One day he receives a message from space. His family are coming to visit!
No one believes him until the sinister agency responsible for extra terrestial life kidnap him and try to suck his brains out. Then it's muppets to the rescue and the usual capers and chaos ensue.
Great film for children of all ages!

Not your typical `western' by any means, this is a portrait of a man trying to escape a society he doesnt like, only to find a new set of troubles in the mountains.

The sparse script is brilliant in its simplicity, people's faces in the film convey their feelings silently but with a intensity that shines through. Especially between Redford and his flathead wife.

Atypically for a hollywood western, its quite traumatic in parts, there are no happy endings here, maybe a hint of hope at the end, but ultimately this is a realistic depiction of the harsh realities of frontier life, and a unique one, as far as I've never seen film like it.

Brilliant film in all, suprised it's not more widely known.

I'm fussy about the horror/sci-fi I watch but "Mimic" I actually quite liked.

The plot it not overly complex, a scientist finds a cure for a terrible disease but at a cost that no one is aware they are going to have to pay at some point in time.

Enter a couple of years later two scientists (one who found the cure and her husband), a shoe cleaner/cobbler and his autistic grandson who live near a train station where the horror that is lurking in the form of insects that can mimic human form are hiding out, a world weary security guard and the usual monster insect fodder (people in lay man's terms!) and you have a surprisingly intelligent film.

A bit on the gruesome side at times but quite suspenseful and it certainly makes you jump ... Read More:

DVD : The Darwin Awards [2006]

The Darwin Awards [2006]

"The Darwin Awards" attempts to be funny and should be commended for the effort that it puts in. That, however, only makes the fact that it is only intermittently funny throughout all the more painful. In fact, there was only a single scene that succeeded in making me laugh anywhere near hysterically. The rest is somewhat bland, not making the most of its original premise and instead going the route of slapstick humour as opposed to anything that would raise it above most of today's abysmal comedies. "The Darwin Awards" is every bit a mediocre motion picture.

Michael Burrows (Joseph Fiennes) is a recently unemployes police personality profiler obsessed with the Darwin Awards of the title -- awards given out for the most ridiculously stupid deaths of numerous individuals ... Read More:

I really enjoyed this film. Its ironic, unusual, unexpected, real in a way some films on a similar topic fail to be.
The representation of university life and their experiences are so true and clear, the portrayal is as close to reality as you could get. There's a sense, I think, that none of the characters are particularly high flyers, none of them really have a clue what they want to do, none of them really understands themselves as much as they think they do and none of them really stops to consider the cocoon they create for themselves.
A cocoon because they're isolated from their fellow students within their own friendship. At the same time, you get the feeling that they're just happy to have something secure. I think I understand, as I'm a student, ... Read More:

DVD : Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead [1991]

Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead [1991]

starring: Christina Applegate, Joanna Cassidy, John Getz, Josh Charles, Keith Coogan
directed by: Stephen Herek
April 29, 2002

This movie's plot is this:
mum goes away on holiday leaving her kids in the care of a babysitter that ends up dying on them. For that summer they need to fend for themselves, the oldest gets a job (through lying about qualification etc etc) in retail. It shows the trials and problems they go through and them eventually working as a team.
As my headin states it is very enjoyablable, but far fetched.
On a side note the fashion is amazing and one of the reason i love 80's retro movies !!
