After throwing a secret party for his son Chris's 12th birthday , Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams) lands himself in hot water with his wife Miranda (Sally Field) and she demands a divorce.
When Miranda wants to hire a housekeeper to look after the children, Daniel is outraged that Miranda would rather let a stranger look after the children than him so with a little help from his make-up artist brother, Daniel turns up to an interview as Mrs Doubtfire, a british nanny who has 15 years experience under her belt and is hired on the spot.
Mrs Doubtfire is a fantastic family film that is funny, sad and touching all at the same time.

Martin Lawrence was born to star in movies like "Blue Streak," a film with much energy and wit, both elements he has coming out of his ears. The film has no major flaw in it. There are no structural problems, dialogue issues, disruptive subplots, characterization uncertainty or tedious nuggets found in it. The filmmakers take advantage of Lawrence being in the movie, and have lots of fun with both him and the plot--things that make this comedy worthy of a minimal recommendation.
The film opens with four jewel thieves, Miles Logan, Deacon, Eddie, and Tulley, constructing a heist in the middle of a dark, cold night attempting to steal a large diamond worth millions. Miles and Eddie sneak in the building, that beholds the valuable rock, from ... Read More:

I remember first watching this film as a child, and thought it was brilliant. The children of the story, although knowing they are "different" from the start, do not find out until towards the end of the film what the "difference" is. Both children are "gifted" with strange abilities, which prove useful during their adventure to help them get out of the scrapes they find themselves in.
The film starts with the children in a home, and the local millionaire finds out about their abilities and tries to adopt them, keeping the children prisoners at his home. Tia, the girl, has a "star case" and finds a hidden map in it, along with dreams she has been having about a ship wreck her and her brother, Tony were involved in as children.

A splendid horror movie. And for the fans of Renee O'Connor (Gabrielle of Xena : Warrior Princess) one of her first. She has this "teen-age touch" that we love in her.

Wow. Just wow. A powerful movie, subtle and moving, for once treating the subject of inner-city African-American life with dignity and respect. It is shys away from the typical taudry 'guns and hos' trivialisation of ghetto life. The rhymes are amazing, the acting superb. Just one of the best films I have seen in a while.
