OK where to start on this truly horrific crime of a film?
Jar Jar Binks may actually be the worst character in the history of cinema - all those animators and actors who worked to realise this affront to human decency should find a revolver and do the decent thing.
Why do all American kids have problems talking properly? Do they think that speaking like a cutesy 3 year old makes them endearing? Jake whatshisname (Anakin) should never ever be allowed in front of a camera again.
Who came up with the 'story'? My ship is broken, want to come with us, Kid? Seems to be about it.
Also,Why is it that in 'attack of the clones' Anakin has aged about ten years, but Padme is (amazingly) about 3 years older than ... Read More:

John Boorman's 1981 film is an exercise in how to treat fantasy in an adult and serious manner.
The fantasy elements are subtle - there are no stop motion monsters to be found here - and yet still pervade the movie with a sense of the magical & arcane. This film in no way attempts a realistic approach to the extent of 2004's King Arthur.
Merlin as portrayed here is dark & ambiguous, constantly aware of the end of the time of magic & the old gods. A very eccentic performance by the
excellent Nicol Williamson. Helen Mirren as the evil & seductive sorceress, Morgana gives an erotically charged performance that is not easily forgotten!
Nigel Terry as Arthur is a bit wooden BUT his tone & manner suits the film's often ... Read More:

I'd been wanting to see this film for ages but never got around to it, i bought it about a week and a half ago, looking at the reverse i was schoked at the fact that it was 3 hours long! I have a really short attention span, and it was also in black and white, which i thought would put me off. Usually i watch films and work through them or talk to friends nose around on teh computer etc but after watching about half an hour of this film i couldn't tear myself away, i completely neglected my laptop for the next two and a half hours! it didn't get boring at all and i didn't even notice it wasn't in black and white. All though we all know of the tragic events of the holocaust watching it unfold in front of you through spielberg's magic doesn't fail to shock and affect. The ... Read More:

In preparation for the Dark Knight, I had to re-watch this movie, and to be honest I forgot how good it was. These movies re-invent the Batman in a much more realistic and plausible way than the orginal 90's movies. The really changes the way you feel about the character and the setting, it changes from being a comic book adaptation in an over the top Gotham, unbelievable gadgets and unbelievable villians to something that with a little bit of imagination may actually be happening around us. This sets up the history of Batman, and how he turns into the Dark Knight, with believable explainations on his skills, gadgets, costumes, money and alike. This is a perfect start to what I hope turns out to be an excellent series of movies. Well directed, well acted with good (and not obviously CGI) ... Read More:

This film is APPALLING. I have to admit i am writing a review but i could not stomach watching the film right to the very end (i watched at least 3\4 of it), i gave it a chance but in the end i had to turn it off. It made me want to vomit. I second the oppinion by some commentators on here that if you are interested in watching a film on this topic watch THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY, well cast, amazingly directed, beautifully shot, thoughtfull, researched, provoking, intelligent and touching - all the things this film was NOT!!! There really isn't alot more to comment on the horribly Hollywoodised cheesy badly acted Michael Collins except its embarrasingly embarrasingly bad... just don't bother.

A film of two halves, but with a somewhat uncomfortable join.
This movie starts off with one of the most gritty and riveting hunts in recent memory. Pierce Brosnan's weatherbeaten and hardened ex Union officer is the hunted one, and Liam Neeson is the hunter, driven remorselessly by the ghosts of his past. The cold of the mountains, the pain of using a knife to gouge out a bullet and cauterize the wound, the chill of the water, the close quarters kills with the knife, all make for a visceral start with minimal dialogue and little explanation. Each man is completely single minded - one on survival, and one on revenge. As the chase moves onto the plains, we discover more about their past and the reason for the chase, marking a change in tone of the movie. As the plains give way to the desert, ... Read More:

Great film, enjoyed it despite initial misgivings about watching a 'kids film'. Not going to review it in depth since so many others already have on the DVD section.
The picture on the bluray disc is excellent throughout, which does mean that some of the more dodgy special effects are shown up - though fortunately not too often. For the most part the graphics are very good, Aslan in particular is impressive.
The sound offers 5.1 and uncompressed. I could not get the uncompressed sound to work initially, but all was ok after a play around, and the uncompressed sound is very good. Footsteps in snow never seemed so loud! The 5.1 sound is also good, but does lack the detail of the lossless format.
One issue was that if I stopped playback on the ps3 (and went to the ps3 menu screen) ... Read More:
