This latest series of Hustle breaks the pattern established in the first three - but maybe that's no bad thing. The absence of Adrian Lester gives the series a different focus as the dominating character of Mickey is removed and the rest of the gang are given more space to show what they can do.
Danny, finally the leader, begins to grow up and understand that there's more to life than girls. Though maybe not much more! Stacie, Albert and Ash all move further into the spotlight and throughout the series Jamie Murray, Robert Vaughn and the incomparable Robert Glenister build on their own characters and play a range of fascinating "character in character" parts. New boy Billy, played by Asley Walters, is a rough diamond who takes his grifting ... Read More:

I bought this for my husband for christmas on the recommendation of a friend. It saved us from the usual dreary Christmas television as we were totally hooked from the first episode.
This is a splendid conspiracy thriller based around the world of politics. David Morrisey does an amazing job as the put upon MP whose researcher is found dead under a train. John Simm is also excellently cast as his journalist friend, intent on finding out if the death was more than accidental.
The story is tightly plotted with some excellent twists and red herrings that leave you guessing right until the end. There is a fantastic supporting cast with kudos going to Bill Nighy as the editor of the paper. At turns funny, touching, suspenseful and gripping this is ... Read More:

Hustle is pure brilliance. You watch the episodes and you think wow that was a brilliant con. Its great how they dont show you how they did the con until the end of the episode. Some of the cons are so good that once youve been told how they were done you want to watch it again to see if you can spot the bits you missed.
Its got comedy and the whole thing is brilliant. Great acting and great cons. In my opinion its better than the oceans trilogy. The group of characters work perfectly together. 10 outa 10.

This series did not have any big gimmicks or weird or quirky set-ups, and isn't (thank God) "edgy" in any sense, but it delivered excellent acting, a funny and resonant script, convincing production, and characters that were a joy to watch. I think there should have been more of a fanfare about it when it was on, because every week it was on I really looked forward to seeing the next episode and was sorry when it finished. All the characters were credible and entertaining, and the humour was never unkind or unpleasant. As each scenario unfolds and the plot develops, there are some very funny moments, and some touching ones, but it never exceeds the bounds of credibility, so you stay involved right through to the end. The story is based on the relationships between four main ... Read More:

From the makers of Spooks, and Life on Mars, Hustle is again, a cut aabove. The BBC shows it can screen some pretty impressive stuff, with the twists and turns, the focus on detail and plot development. The result - a group of characters, that by today's standards are some of the most hated people in society, and shows a 'human' side, unlike anything ever shown before, using ideas like, 'Never Cheat an Honest Man'.
The characters are well chosen, and the on-screen chemistry is over-flowing. Adrian Lester plays Michael Stones, GBH convicted leader of the group of long and short con-artists. Marc Warren (a.k.a Pvt. Blithe - 'Band of Brothers') once again, lives up to his standard, and plays convincingly, the over-eager, full-of-himself Danny Blue. Each wonderfully crafted ... Read More:

I have just finished watching this set. I had seen some early episodes originally but watched all again. It is almost a bit "Lost on Mars" as the early series now do seem dated or rather perfectly portraying that time - the early 1990s. I found myself watching the clothes of DCI Tennison and of course the ageing of her in her character with all the trials and tribulations faced by a woman in the police force and in her personal life. She is a demanding , admirable yet imperfect character and it is heart wrenching to see the last episode when retirement beckons. Absolutely fantastic performance by Helen Mirren and of course the rest who make their characters just so believable!
