An absorbing film. Very clever and unusually depicted story-telling. It wasn't obvious what the great drama was going to turn out to be and I was guessing who was who for quite some time. Surreal and very well acted drama which you can see was a stage play originally. The acting and lines are straight from the theatre. And of course the actors are playing out a drama "on stage" themselves. The "play within a play" has the tone, style and plot of classic tragedy - in a highly unusual setting - but then classic tragedy often has been so. Very well acted by all. This is real artistic fusion of cinema and theatre.

Just out of Soviet fear and the Cold War we were in 1992. Modern American cowboy films had to invent another enemy. Simple recipe: Italian mafia, French mafia, and Iranian mafia, all three together. And there you are. The only place possible is Seattle and Vancouver. The Italians are in Seattle. The French (Canadians) are in Vancouver. And the Iranians are invading with the help of a rotten ex-cop turned drug-lordlet. All that is by far too much and too many. So many will have to be eliminated. What's more there is the ghost of an officially dead cop playing the double agent, and he was officially killed by the rotten ex-cop turned drug-lordlet. And the ghost will finally meet face to face with this drug-lordlet and the latter will be turned into mid-air ... Read More:

Structured like "Man of La Mancha" (a play within a play) this film cannot hide its roots as a stage play. But who cares?! It's brilliant, and a visual delight. Jason Cadieux is so wonderful, that you find yourself wondering why he usually does small parts in syndicated tv series and not more leading roles in feature films. The most breathtaking performance is given by Brent Carver - the man desivered an Oscar for this role. A film that will haunt you for days after watching it. Bravo!

As others have said, this is a film that shows Jesus as one of the downtrodden. In this case, French-Canadians in the modern world. The Devil in a skyscraper seemed totally at home, and other scenes are also done cleverly.
