This film, based on the Pulitzer-Prize winning novel by Alice Walker, follows the life of Celie, a young black woman who is married off to a violent, controlling man, at the tender young age of 14. Celie is played with utter brilliance by Whoopi Goldberg.
Separated from her beloved sister, Celie then has to endure an extremely difficult life with the man she calls 'Mr', played superbly by Danny Glover. Celie also has to come to terms with the fact that she may never see her two children again; the two children she had with the man she called her father, but was actually her stepfather.
Along the way, 'Mr' brings into his home the first woman he ever loved, a stunningly talented singer named Shug Avery, and Celie forms ... Read More:

"Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins," one of the better recent efforts from the funny wing of Black Hollywood. (It is certainly better than "First Sunday.") The film is written and directed by Malcolm D. Lee, who directed but did not write the hilarious 2002 film "Undercover Brother." Lee definitely has some jokes in this one--especially involving canine love--but it seems likely that the film's comedic quartet offered some choice jokes to the script and fed off of each other, upping the comedic ante as they went along.
1. Angela Bassett stars as a single mother of 3 kids struggling to make ends meet in inner city Chicago
2. A death in the family takes them to Georgia, where they meet the Browns
3. A quick Rick Fox jumps into the crazy clan
4. Over-the-top characters, prolonged punch lines and unnecessary family secrets lead to a predictable ending
This movie has an established talent pool of a cast, and usually they can be depended on to put the "dis" in dysfunctional, but this time the jokes fail to flow smoothly, wasting the comedic talents of Jenifer Lewis, David Mann and Frankie Faison. Tyler Perry appears briefly as his most beloved character Madea, but even this feels like an afterthought in the ... Read More:

I saw this film first in 1967, and many, many times since, and westerns just don't get better than this. Paul Newman is at his very best, Richard Boone is at his very nastiest (and best), the humour is, like Cool Hand Luke, subtle and funny. If all that is not enough, there is a real story behind it, and the good guy doesn't win. Just like life
What a shame we cannot get it in PAL format

Not as good as the original or "Sudden Impact", but still a great action film. Descent directing - and as usual great acting by Eastwood. What else do you want?

Award winning three and three quarter hour mini-series that dramatizes two of the most influential forces in music, The Jacksons and Motown.
The miniseries 'The Jacksons: An American Dream' begins in the 1940s, when Joseph Jackson (Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs) and Katherine (Angela Bassett) meet and fall in love, and ends in the 1980s, when their sons reunite for the 1983 Victory Tour that brought them back together as the Jacksons. During the first part (DVD-1), "The Early Years," the couple starts a family, and although times are tough, Joseph still finds time to play music on the side. When he discovers that his sons have inherited the same talent, the Jackson 5 are born. They sign with Motown and start churning out the gold records. The second part (DVD-2), "The Success Years," begins ... Read More:

Cyborg 3 feels like a movie that was directed by three people. One who actually knew what he was doing, one who kinda knew what he was doing and one who was totally out of it.
I have not seen the previous films and can't comment on the movie's relationship with them. All I can say is that the movie undoubtedly has a very cheap feel to it. At times however the film's quality seems to boost up and sometimes it can drop horrifically in the process of a scene. This is marked by the extremely diverse quality of dialogue scenes. Sometimes the actors are stiff as dolls, but the next minute they could be delivering a speech with such passion you start wondering if you suddenly switched to a whole different movie.
Pay no attention to the reviews below this is a poor sequel to what is a classic movie Superfly. The only redeeming features are that its so bad that its funny and there is some good hip hop tracks in the soundtrack, Curtis Mayfield is not at his best here and the film fails to create the Superfly vibe, the acting and script belongs in a bad porno movie, avoid this film at all costs! I rented this on the basis of the reviews below, they could not have seen the Superfly or much of the genre if they thought that this film was any good!!
