I'm almost embarrassed that I thought it was good when I was a kid. Because I was too young to understand the bad points and let's face it, we don't have high demands of quality when we are young. I thought power rangers had good acting then... riiight moving swiftly on.
Anyway I watched it again a year or so ago when it was on TV and realised just how innocent I must have been.
Not only is this film crap, but its pro American theme that is used to carry the story really made me cringe... HARD.
Its like a serious version of Team America. I'm sure the point of this was to have Americans coming out of the "Movie Theatre" (Cinema to you and I) jumping up and down with their lassoes screaming YEAH!!! YEAH!!!. ... Read More:

Why do Amazon keep sending out US Imports that will not load. I have tried a number of copies hoping they would solve the problem. The last copy again would not load even tried a Sony shop to see if it was my system that was wrong......

I adore this movie! I first saw it about 17 years ago when I was 15. I was staying in my best friends house and we rented out this movie because we both had a crush on Andrew McCarthy! Anyway we watched it three times in 24 hours!!
I can't tell you why I loved it so much, but I think I could relate to Andie (Molly Ringwald's character) at the time because I liked to be my own person, not a clone. One of the main reasons that I love this movie is DUCKIE! I love him, yes I fancied Andrew McCarthy at that time (I want to stress AT THAT TIME,NOT NOW!) but when I watch this film, it's Duckie I want Andie to be with and who I would have chosen myself! I know that the film originally ended this way (the right way!)but test audiences didn't like it so they ... Read More:

For once, a Hollywood film which parts from Hollywood story conventionality. There is no hero, no bad guy, no good guy, and no happy ending.
There is some brilliant acting, great filming, pretty good sex scenes (can't knock that), and an ambiguous end.
OK, anyone familiar with modern detective shows will know that the police bit is full of holes - the police would definitely have found and convicted the people they needed to (I won't say more, as I don't want to spoil).
But though the brilliant acting owes everything to Hollywood, the other good things about the film owe everything to its French origins.
Night of the Eagle doesn't seem to get shown on television very much, which is really strange as its a cracking supernatural thriller. Peter Wyngarde (remember Department S?) stars with Janet Blair as Norman and Tansy Taylor. Its made clear right from the outset of the film that Norman is a sceptic and doesn't believe in the supernatural. Unfortunately Tansy does and is heavily involved in it.
The film was clearly influenced by Night of the Demon and it very nearly matches that film in most respects: The lighting and sound are excellent, its only 84mins long, so there really isn't a wasted minute, and the two leading performances are memorably good. Perhaps the only area where its a little weaker than Night of the Demon is the absence of any of that ... Read More:

There is an impression that The Devil's Own is an action film. The Internet Movie Database has it listed as "Action/Drama/Thriller". Although there are some action elements in the film, this is really a tragic drama, almost in a classical sense, and it's ... Read More:
