Firstly I must say that although I found the Superman films were always great to watch when I was a kid, I have personally gotten a bit bored with the franchise now. However I still cherish the first few films for what they were.

I bought this boxset just over a year ago because I thought that a) it would not only give me the first two films but the third and fourth ones as well and b) I mistook the Christopher Reeve Collection for this one so then I thought it would give me the deleted scenes of Supes 4 that had been locked away in the vaults of Warner Bros for that long time. Sadly I was wrong and ended up with the finished product and theatrical trailer for it only. However I was glad at the time to get Supes 3 for myself where ... Read More:

DVD : Black Christmas [1974]

Black Christmas [1974]

starring: Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea, Margot Kidder, John Saxon, Roy Moore
directed by: Bob Clark
December 04, 2006

Black Christmas was released in 1974, making it the first slasher flick and while the film must have been scary for its day, it hasn't aged well at all and this unfortunatly makes the film boring for modern horror audiences. There is no gore, you don't see the killer, the deaths are pretty lame and most of the film is girls sitting around talking about crap. If you want a gorey film, avoid this and watch the remake but if you prefer a suspenseful film, there are worse choices out there than Black Christmas.

superman the movie comes to dvd. one of the biggest movies of the 70's, this brought the dc comics character to the big screen. It runs for over two hours, taking most of the films first half to tell superman's origin story, and then once the character is established he has to deal with a plot from criminal genius lex luthor.

Coming back to this, which I hadn't seen in a while, I was instantly struck by the superb jerry goldsmith score. the title music really goes with the character. and christopher reeve who took the lead - an unknown at the time - was superb, making his clark kent and superman two totally separate characters. margot kidder is an excellent lois lane, feisty and beautiful. gene hackman is pretty good as lex luthor although he's ... This is a great film! Although the acting is a bit rough for a few characters I found myself drawn into the story line. We have Danielle Breton (Margot Kidder) has a one-night stand with a black TV-game show player. The morning after, he is killed by Danielle's psycho twin sister, Dominique Blanchion. But Grace Collier (Jennifer Salt), an aspiring journalist, sees everything from her flat across the street. Things get even uglier when the journalist starts following Danielle and his strange ex-husband, Dr. Emil Breton (De Palma perennial weirdo Bill Finley). What dark secret lies behind this murder? Uh? Of course, nobody really seems to care about the plot - De Palma plays the genre rules, twisting every second with his split screen techniques and neat suspense touches. ... Read More:

As horror films go, one tends to find that the supernatural is usually far scarier than full-on gore. This has been true for films like 'The Exorcist', 'The Omen', and a variety of other supernatural-themed horror films.

The supernatural theme has mixed results in this film. This follows the lives of the Lutz family for a period of about 2 weeks from the point they move into a large house in the town of Amityville, New England. The house has a sickening past - the Lutz family discover that a young man shot dead his entire family some years previously. Still this does not deter the Lutz's, and their three children, who belong to Mrs. Lutz from a previous marriage.

From the off, a variety of odd events occur, which at first the Lutz's put down to ... Read More:

I bought this boxset because superman is one of those classic films that everyone has seen in their childhood, but I hadn't for some reason,I had caught odd bits of it on tv before, but never sat and watched it. Now having two sons I thought it was a good time to buy it.Both films were much btter than i anticipated and not at all what I expected. This is not only an action film about a superhero, it's also about a young man growing up and finding his way in life.Unlike some films of it's genre, there is a good balance between the emotional stuff and the action, its great for all ages and should be in everyones collection, at this price you can't go wrong.

Yes, Superman, the superhero everyone knows about. What is there to say, that hasn't already been said. This film is superb! Perfect, outstanding, touching, tear-jerking, and everything else good one could possibly say! That is because this film was made by people who knew what they were doing, and they knew how to give us a real story. Richard Donner has given us this total depiction of a real Superman, and in no other way, could we receive anything other than this. Donner has filled this movie with so much heart, and inspiration, so much talent, and every bit of hard work and dedication one could imagine. Tom Mankiewicz revised the story with clever dialogue, so the characters would not just appeal to children, but to adults as well. Like them, or hate them, the Salkinds really gave ... Read More:

George Lutz and Kathy Lutz, recently married and buying a house together, Kathy has her kids from her previous marriage but George loves them and intends to riase them as his own. The house they view seems too good to be true, its huge, three floors, cabin to keep the family boat in and a potting shed.
They love it from the start.
The house has a past and they are aware of that, a young man slaughtered his family there in the night and later claimed voices told him to do it. Still, they move in because the house is far more than they could hope to ever afford had it not got a chequered past.
They are happy - settling in and getting the place decorated and such, the daugther claims to have made an imaginary friend, the troubling thing is that she says she used to live there ... Read More:

DVD : To Catch A Killer [1991]

To Catch A Killer [1991]

starring: Brian Dennehy, Michael Riley, Margot Kidder, Meg Foster, Martin Julien
directed by: Eric Till
July 29, 1997

This is a very good film and Brian Dennehy is so convincing as Gacy, The story is very good from start to finish, I highly recommend this film if you are interested in true storys about serial killers as this is one of the best. The other version called "Gacy" is ok but if you want a good true story about John Gacy I would watch this film.
