We watched the third of the "Mummy"-movies over Xmas.It was still quite entertaining, teh special effects rather good, but really it has lost its specific attraction. It went the route of "India Jones" by introducing the son who slowly takes over. The new leading lady (Maria Bello), Rachel Weiszis is not as good and remotely funny as the orginal one(Rachel Weisz) And Mr Fraser...it seems that he is bored by it all. Except for displaying his great body he adds nothing specific to the movie. All in all we were not bored, but one could have easily done without. One kind of hopes that the indication of more "Mummy"-movies (further mummies have been discovered in Latin America)will not come true. Let the Mummy finally rest.

I loved this film so much that I felt compelled to read the book on which it is based - and, to my surprise, the film turned out to be almost better!

Most of this film seems to centre around Saddam Husseins early life growing up alone next to a swamp. Most chick flicks nowadys seem to have a similar theme now, and I find it quite tiresome. What IS good about the film is that it livened up by having a computer game feel, and, indeed, I really believed I was in the film at one point. My brother came in the room and I beat him unconscious with a tray. Coyote ugly is O.K. to watch with all the family.

I loved ER's series one and two. Series Three was good too but I missed and was greatly saddened by a main character's departure. Series four was the first series I didn't captured by the magic, however.
Dr Conray (I think her name was) and Benton's relationship was cool, and ER continues to give off wild situations and alot of drama and heart. But it was too soapy, Carter (I hate him like crazy) still being there and being so annoying, I wished Maggie Doyle (Jorja Fox) was given a bigger role, she would have been more interesting that this blonde doctor with the complex name (luckily she's leaving soon - even though I would have been more happier with Carter leaving)
I suppose I could have given this 2 stars because i watched it right to the end but that was in the hope that it could redeem a promising start. It didn't. From an interesting premise of a ordinary storekeeper becoming a have-a-go hero and shooting two professional mob hitmen to the tantalising possibility of his having a secret identity and hidden past, all is well enough. Thereafter everything falls apart and descends into a series of cliches, predictable scenes and unrealistic action. It's not just the fact that Mortensen then turns into a Rambo like invincible killing machine - that's laughable enough, it's the repeated glamorization of macho violence, physical and sexual that is so disappointing. The parallel of the son being bullied at school and then retaliating ... Read More:

We see it so often now, politicians telling us smoking is bad, doing this is bad, doing that is bad; and sometimes it just get annoying. People even look at their warnings and rebel, but Thank You For Smoking looks at all the angles, even if the film is based on a pro-smoking campaigner, Nick Naylor.
Nick is great at spin, hence why he's so popular with his smoking companies, even gets the attention of the Captain, but he has to learn himself that smoking has two different sides, and show his son what it does do, without spinning it out of control.
This is a great satirical look at politics in the US, and smoking companies as a whole. I really enjoyed the way Nick argued for smoking without actually putting himself in extreme danger - he wasn't completely ... Read More:

I bought this as I am a huge horse lover and it didn't fail but I found the story a little predictable and silly at times. It wasn't brilliant but there were nice shots of horses. Possible recommend to horse lovers but if you're not a fan then I wouldn't bother.

Absolutely stunning on blu-ray, although 90% of the film is with the port officers trapped under the rubble, the brief part at the start of the film with the surround sound and pristine picture quality is well...amazing.

...but comedy and revenge don't go together. Remakes rarely live up to the original and PAYBACK (the original being POINT BLANK with Lee Marvin) is no exception, and it's not for the lack of trying.
The acting is good, the story is good, but it's the directing and the sometimes slapstick humor that bring PAYBACK down. There's plenty of other GOOD revenge films out there, this one looks poor by comparison. 3 stars for effort and because it IS watchable.
