I have often wondered why there are so many bad horror movies these days. Movies that instead of focusing on suspense and real chills, just pour endless amounts of blood in your face, thinking this will do the trick, and hopefully become a cult classic. Film after film, more and more horror movies are becoming increasingly similar, and you can almost guess the whole entire plot of the movie, no more than 10 minutes into the film. Everything in horror these days is all about over the top special effects, numbingly loud thumping music, that is supposed to get you scared. This is a real classic, Alan Orsmby & Jeff Gillen from Children Shouldnt Play with Dead Things, working with a young Tom Savini. This is the story of Ed Gein but with a great darkly comic edge & loads of Gore. This includes some great set pieces involving Bear Traps, the killing of an obese Spiritualist & a twisted dinner date.
The soundtrack is haunting church melodies, & the film shifts quickly from real to surreal, form comic to gruesome, with Robert Blossoms giving a fantastic performance as Ezra Cobb a man who haunted by his Mother's warnings about the evils of women, follows a grizzly trail of graverobbing, murder & making useful everyday items from corpses
