The DVD of the godfather 1 and 2 had very poor picture quality. The Blu ray version is not much better. Hardly worth the extra money. There are so many good transfers of 70s and even earlier films to blu ray so I cannot see why the picture quality of this film(s) is so poor. I think we need to go back to the original master and start a massive restoration job!

I did not see godfather 3 so cannot make any comment on it.

High Plains Drifter is a cracking western not for the easily offended,it definately deserves its 18 rating.Clints performance as the Stranger is excellent,a rather nasty hero to say the least. The film flows well throughout and is well directed by Clint himself. Not Eastwoods best but well worth a watch.

The Godfather: Part II [1974]

starring: Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro, John Cazale
directed by: Francis Ford Coppola
September 27, 2004

How do you top the perfection of the original Godfather? How do you make another Godfather when all Michael's enemies were wiped out at the end of the first movie? How do you even DARE make another Godfather without Marlon Brando???

This is how. The Godfather Part II...A massive, sprawling epic movie that moves forwards and backwards at the same time to expand on the original and deepen it's meaning. It tells two stories at once; the story of the young immigrant Vito Corleone's rise to power in America (played by Robert De Niro instead of Marlon Brando this time, Like Brando, De Niro won an Oscar for it as well as having a song written about it by Bananarama "Robert De Niro's waiting, talking Italian") and of his son Michael's ... High Plains Drifter [1973]

starring: Clint Eastwood, Verna Bloom, Marianna Hill, Mitch Ryan, Jack Ging
directed by: Clint Eastwood
September 18, 2006

'High Plains Drifter' is my very favourite Eastwood movie.(and that's saying something) I especially like the dark humour and ambiguity, but in truth, there's not much I don't like.
You just know something bad is gonna happen the minute you see him appear through the desert heat-haze in the eerie title sequence, and by the time the film ends, with the same shot in reverse (a la 'the Searchers') something bad has!
In between, we're treated to much violence, sexism, adultery, hypocrisy and general wretchedness from the Lago townsfolk, and they're supposed to be the victims!
These people are dire, far worse than the actual villains, (who are gold-star nasty in a traditional sense.) they stood and watched as their sheriff, the only honest ... Read More:

DVD : Invisible Strangler [1976]

Invisible Strangler [1976]

starring: Robert Foxworth, Stefanie Powers, Sue Lyon, Mark Slade, Leslie Parrish
directed by: Arthur C. Pierce, Gene Fowler Jr., John Florea
May 05, 1998

I suppose that invisible men movies should qualify for sci-fi but this is just cops vs. a murderer with the culprit being known from the start but being uncatchable because he can't be seen. The action is slow, but films in 1976 depended on slow suspense and this is no exception. It cannot appeal to viewers of modern films.
