Just bought this for my daugter and its a superb buy. its easy to forget how good these classic musicals are. this perticular edition is great becasue it includes the Dance and singalong versions of the song. you are shown through all the moves for perticular songs and then can dance to them like a pro well maybe not. Only negative and its a really small point as this is fantastic value is there are only 3 dance along songs would have been great with more. still 5* though!

You know this classic story by now of the boy who asked for more...Oliver Twist played touchingly in the best version on celluloid by Mark Lester...He is one of many workhouse orphans lead by the authoritarian Mr Bumble (Harry Secombe) who decides to sell Oliver to a local Funeral Director in the form of (Leonard Rossiter) of Rising Damp fame. A truly terrible film. I still watched it to the end in the same way people watch the wreckage from car accidents. It was un-intentionaly funny, it has the same other worldly view of London that Notting Hill had. The only people i really had any time for were the old couple. All the rest i couldnt care less for. Bunch of pretentious idiots.
That annoying young bloke chatting-up anything that moves, where was his accent from? Ewan mcgregor playing a North London gay, how obvious. The couple being ever so nice and relaxed about their imminent divorce, is that for real? The animated series is work of genius. Or genius's. Lovingly crafted, beautifully written and establishes itself quickly as the best depiction of Batman outside the comics. These are some of the earliest episodes, and arguably some of the weakest. The Last Laugh is a especially bad compared with later Joker episodes and the animated movies. "Nothing to Fear" is one of my favourites and you'll notice that the Begins movie (in regards to the Scarecrow) lifts a lot of material from here. Pretty Poison, and on Leather Wings are also classy episodes which stand up against the repeatng viewing. On the whole a short but sweet disc. The DVD extras offer a brief but insightful intro. into each episode. >>More Details |

I love this series, but DON'T waste your money on just a couple of episodes, there is no point! There is more continuity if you buy the season, plus these episodes are not that great! I have all three of these DVD's and I have been very dissapointed by the selection on all 3! DO NOT BUY THIS DVD!

Sadly this is the last run through of Batman: The Animated Series which is a disappointment because I've really enjoyed watching the show ever since I was little! The boxset starts off with the first twenty episodes from the original series before it swapped over and became The Adventures of Batman & Robin for the last ten episodes. Once again we have a superb cast providing their voices and giving the characters some cool personality and backbone such as Kevin Conroy who as always plays Batman with his gravelly voice and dry wit, Loren Lester as Robin the sidewick, Efrem Zimbalist Jr as Alfred, Batman's sardonic butler, Mark Hamill as the Joker, a deranged madman, etc. The newest volume in the collection hails the arrival of Batgirl ... I agree with the comments of Ms J.A.Jacobs about this film bearing little resemblance to its source material, the novel, but it does have a few fine things going for it. Firstly, there is the angelic and totally beautiful Mark Lester, who was 12 years old when he made this film in 1970 (it was released in 1971) and he dominates the film, even though, despite being the main star of it, he's only in the film for the first 26 minutes and is glimpsed again briefly as the end cast plays. He is fascinating to watch and his facial expressions and the look in his eyes when he is watching Black Beauty being born are a joy to behold and are complemented superbly by the music score composed by Lionel Bart and John Cameron.

One year after the blockbuster Oliver, Mark Lester is given this role as a boy who is mute or has lost the ability to speak since birth. Distanced from his parents (a mother who is unable to love him and a father who has lost patience) the boy befriends a white horse on the moors and follows it everywhere. John Mills encourages the young boy and becomes a fatherly figure showing him the beautiful wild countryside and moors and the animals that live there. Watch out for a young Fiona Fullerton. The film really plods along apart from one or two incidents before it builds to a climax where the horse falls into a bog and they struggle to pull it out, the young boy shocked and upset saves the day by uttering the horses name and shouts for it to get up.
