There's not really much to say about this film, apart from it is just plain terrible. I have not seen the character on Saturday Night Live, so do not know if it is similar - but this film just isn't a good comedy at all. Will Ferrell is the only funny thing about it and even then, he doesn't have a massive part in the film. I do not understand how watching a school girl make the sign of the cross with a stupid sound at the end and then fall on to her bed saying, "Superstar....." can be classed as funny. And then be funny after you see her do it many times over and over. Molly Shannon is actually funnier in Taladaga Nights, which is a small part, than she is in this entire film.
its true this movie isn't for the average guy wanting to cozy on the couch on a saturday night-its more of an experimentation. Still much better than tom cruise blasting through the bleedin air! its a big mesh of idiosyncrasy and fantasy all in the disguise of a typical hollywood film! it doesnt quite work as well for me as David gordon greens fantastic all the real girls but There are moments in this film -if you're willing to invest in it- that will stay with you all your life. yep and jamie bells fantastic...again!

I see that other reviewers have been more affected by this movie than me. Don't get me wrong, I loved it but in my opinion it's basically a visual comedy. The characters are sometimes sad, even pathetic, but they are caricatures rather than fully fleshed people and as such genuine sympathy for them is muted.
The silent movie imagery is typical of Guy Maddin and is brilliantly done.
The glass legs full of beer is an inspired surreal idea and, to me, just plain funny (if a little twisted).
The brothers and their father are really the main characters on which the plot hangs, providing some great visual comedy as well as some over the top pathos, but the female characters often steal the show. Isabella Rossellina as ... Read More:

Remember catching this show on Channel 4 in the 90s. This is a great little DVD with some of their best characters including the Head Crusher and Chicken Lady. Well worth the price!! 5 Stars!

This film remake, bares little resemblement to the wonderful, and absolutely hilarious original, starring, Jack Lemmon, and, Sandy Dennis. It comes nothing near. I love steve Martin, and Goldie Hawn, but, they are, let down by poor scriptwriting.
I found this new version, slow and boring, with not much to laugh about. Where as, the original, is so fast paced, well acted, and has laughs from start to finish, and must be one of the best comedy films ever.
I highly recommend looking at the original version its just so brilliantly funny, and forget the remake.

A very watchable, both funny and worrying, documentary. Most people will be familiar with the topic, and even for those who aren't it's still essential viewing. Interviews with some great people; Jello Biafra, Mike Ruppert, Tommy Chong, Joe Rogan, and a stack of others, all showing what scam the drug war is.
The extras alone are worth the money for this, and as long as the main film itself.
The only thing that would of made this more complete would be to have included some grow guides and layouts for setting up crystal meth labs. only joking.
