Watched the first disc of the first season last night and CRIKEY! What a pile of of old rubbish this show is. A kind of soapy teen sci-fi with the worst of both worlds. I.e, poor script, poor characters and pathetically poor action scenes. Worst is seeing the Alba girl trying to rip off the Faith character from Buffy and dying painfully in the process. My father once told me that if you're a real fan of an actor, you take the good with the bad. That's exactly what Devour is - taking the bad. As a lot of people admit, I only bought this as I'm a fan of Jensen Ackles and if you really just want to watch him, I'd suggest just putting Supernatural or Dark Angel in - those were better. On the whole the film contained hope in the cast with Jensen Ackles and Shannyn Sossamon; you just wished it was a better script perhaps? Definitely did not warrant a 18 certificate, so if gore and horror is your thing, don't buy this {albeit i looked away at one point...but cutting off tongues is NOT my thing}. I watched this programme 10 years ago on a Tuesday night on channel 5 and was hooked - even if the picture was very grainy. They ran 2 episodes back to back and it was fantastic. So when the first series was released a year and a half ago I preordered it and waited with fear and baited breath - I wasn't let down. I had feared that time would have given my memory the usual rosey glow, and though the memories of a couple of the episodes were more detailed than the episodes themselves I found that these were great to watch. Some extras would have been nice - region 2 = second class citizen again. I liked this movie, as it reminded me of Jason's Lyric and a little of Love Jones. The film revolves around two brothers who have grown up under some terrible circumstances. Their mother is in prison, for supposedly killing her violent husband. One brother (Larenz Tate) seems to keep losing the battle through drugs and the other brother, is scared to love and sees women as only he knows how- just for sex. Through it all the brothers try and stick together no matter what. In walks Deborah Cox who is everything that Larenz Tate wants- but is she gold or just golden? This has got to be one of the greatest tv series ever. I started to watch this after I missed the first episode of Alias. It was like a backup and now I'm in love with the series. I got posters, both of the series on tape & DVD, the soundtrack. The show is so good it's got everything from humour to action. The characters are great too. I especially like Joshua and Normal but nobody beats the hot Jessica Alba. This is a must for anybody who enjoys action, sci-fi or both. actually i recommend it to everybody, it must not be missed. >>More Details
