I was expecting this to be a bit lame but actually I quite enjoyed it. I got it in the 3 pack deal with shrooms and Dead Silence and overall I think I prefered it to the other two. I thought the actors were quite good. Not a lot happened really but the suspense was real and there was one part when I could imagine how she must have been feeling and I kind of felt it to. It was an interesting idea and it worked well.

This good remake is a thoroughly enjoyable thriller with Pacino in Alaska investigating a murder. The disorientation causeed by the environment (constant day light) compounds the unease tht Dormer (Pacino) has brought with him from LA.
Eventually his investigation takes a disastrous turn for the worse and his turmoil becomes unbearable. Finding himself blackmailed by the murdered girl's killer Dormer has a lot on his plate and the constant sunshine (and his insomnia) gives his conscience no place to hide.
Pacino is good in this 2002 movie. Its pleasant to see him deliver a good performace without hte shouty-shouty Hoo Hah nonsense we have seen in recent years. Robon Williams is a revelation as the girls killer. Nolan ... Read More:

Overall: great directing, smashing play, spectacular camera work and interesting extras. The main characters demonstrated interest in the context and were `qualified' on the scene. The props and costumes looked perfect too and that is not just in my personal opinion but of a fellow historian of costumes from Moscow. Ralph Fiennes is always convincing depicting controversial villains. He looks very natural, sometimes appropriately revolting. Liv Tyler looks good too, definitely like someone you can relate your private life's worries to.
It shows a bit of Russia and a lot of emotions, it's suits Pushkin's masterpiece accordingly. Loved it.

The time, just after WWII. The place Occupied Germany. After two people that clearly dislike each other have been forced to work together, French Capt. Henri Rochard (Cary Grant) and U.S. Lt. Catherine Gates (Ann Sheridan) they decide the only thing the can do is get married. All this would be fine except for one thing. The U.S. government forms for bringing a spouse back to the U.S. assumes the spouse is female (hence bride.) After several attempts to correct this oversight it is apparent the there is only one way to get on board the ship. A horse is missing a tail and a lanky spouse is having problems with high heals. Will this work or is it just the beginning?
There are many great one-liners. Also misinterpretations and some slapstick ... Read More:

The trailer is clearly the best part of the film and this has been overated big time due to the A listers actors in this. I had high hopes for this but was very dissapointed when I finally sat down to watch it. Kiefer Sutherland and Michael Douglas are the big stars but did they really want to be in this film by the look of it the answer is no, they both treat it as a big pay day.

We rented this film because we were so impressed by many of its good reviews. However, we felt let down when we saw it. Much of the filming was done in very poor light (presumably deliberately), and even when the sun shone outside, it seemed that the camera preferrred to stay in the shadows. Despiute the fact that some reviewers loved this film, we found its pace achingly slow, focussing upon a lead character with whom we had no empathy. After half an hour or so we were so bored we abandoned watching this film.

A great fast, fun, clean and enjoyable movie. Its a shame the book was not as good, but this film is great, yes the actor does a big part in the movie and carries the film. It may not be a classic, but is full of fun and well worth watching. Cody is like Jason Steed, Alex Rider a young 007, teen spy.

What a dreadfully mediocre film and what a disappointment.
One wonders whether this was a desperate ploy or a painful attempt to re-establish Michael Douglas as a credible acting force. Clearly the central role would have been far better served by Keifer Sutherland who turns in a creditable performance. However the script can not be saved. It is predictable and unworthy of his talent. Kim Basinger is drastically under-used and turns in a barely workmanlike performance. All in all one is just left feeling very unsatisfied; a political thriller with no thrills and even less political observation or insight. As a narrative so many opportunities were missed here for suprise or interest. This one is straight to the sell-off bin. Keifer...Why did you do it? Was it ... Read More:

Indeed, as my fellow reviewer's agree, an incredible snapshot of how we were in 1968, and hat's off, still, to Tony Palmer for capturing the images which are wonderful for any young person studying our musical heritage, and indeed, for us to look back upon.
Although Patrick Allen (RIP) was THE 'in' voice-over man of the time, both this and Cream's 'Farewell Concert' have unfortunately been marred by his observations. Fair play, he may well have just been reading someone else's words from a script, but even when 'All My Loving' was originally broadcast, Allen's commentary gives the impression, but only during Cream's fiesty live clip from 'We're Going Wrong' that WE AS A GENERATION were going / had gone wrong. This was most objectionable at the time, and as a ... Read More:
